Error with explorer.exe

When I try opening My Computer or try launching Windows Explorer, i get an error dialog titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" and stating:

"Buffer overrun detected.

Program C:\Windows\Explorer.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected. which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated."

ON cluicking the OK button, the entire shell(explorer.exe) restarts."

Can anyone tell me how to fix this.

May be a bad system file, try running the System File Checker.

Start-->Run-->sfc /scannow
