Ok i know this isn't a car forum but i was hoping some of the electronic gurus could help me out here. The car stereo i have installed in my car takes a serious load, the amp i am running is fused for up to 100 amps. My electrical system dosnt seem to like it much with my head lights dimming along with interiors when it hits, so i wanted to look into adding a second battery seeing as i already have a 1 farad capacity installed. My question is can i run another battery(in parallel) in the trunk and run both off the alternator to charge them? And going in a different direction if the auxilary battery was a deep cycle battery what kind of charging would it take and how long would it last? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You could wire it like that, but it sounds like your alternator is having trouble as it is, so buy an isolator if you are to get a 2nd battery, or just a bigger alternator.

Yes, get another bigger better alternator. And a better cap. Because if you just get a second battery, the same old alternator has to now charge BOTH. So just get a new alternator and you should be fine. :D Problem Solved.
