uninstalling norton internet security

i tried installing a copy of NIS 2004 , but it never installed properly,

now anytime i try reinstalling it , i just get an error saying that the msi must be launched during setup, or that a prevoiuos installation was installed and must be uninstalled first..

does anyone know how i can get around this, or forcing nis to uninstall

any help would be great

If you have xp did you disable xp firewall first?

Do you have a previous version installed already?
