DefoBryso
Whenever i login to XP i get this error: Mapmem driver initialization failure. I have no idea what its talking about. The other thing is i cant get into my display properties, it just wont load, and rundll32.exe executes and hogs 100% of my processor. Does anyone know if these problems are related? Im really new to XP so im lost :knocked: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2634-mapmem-driver-init-failure/ Share on other sites
aco Veteran Posted October 18, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 18, 2001 Gday mate, Do you have a Voodoo based card by any chance? The error could quite possibly be that your Voodoo drivers are not loading at the startup. Try changing the drivers. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2634-mapmem-driver-init-failure/#findComment-17303 Share on other sites
DefoBryso
Yeah i do! I have my old voodoo2 still in there. I rarely use it anymore, its just keeping my GeForce company :) How should i change the drivers? Are there others in XP or should i go hunt for some? aco Veteran Posted October 18, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 18, 2001 I had a feeling this is what was causing your problems. I have seen it before, but personally, I don't/have never owned any Voodoo based card. The newer drivers available are all 3rd party seeing as 3dfx no longer exists. :paranoid: You might want to try a few of these XP - 3dfx links on a site posted here a while ago by Maximus. http://home.nyc.rr.com/go3dfx4xp/links.htm Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2634-mapmem-driver-init-failure/#findComment-17341 Share on other sites
DefoBryso
Thanks for the tip aco, you were spot on! I uninstalled the voodoo2 drivers and disabled the device and the mapmem error disappeared but now i get 2 errors on startup looking for 2 3dfx driver files but i should be able to fix that up. Thanks again :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2634-mapmem-driver-init-failure/#findComment-17609 Share on other sites
aco Veteran Posted October 19, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 19, 2001 You're lucky you found one! XP compatible Voodoo drivers are hard to find so I believe, glad i could help anyway. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/2634-mapmem-driver-init-failure/#findComment-17656 Share on other sites
