This should put to rest any argument about old crappy machines supporting core-image fully.

I checked, CoreImage Funhouse and iBooks supporting CoreImage is all public knowledge and video demonstrations have been given so this is not an NDA breach.

So what's this Core Image Fun House? Haven't been following Tiger too much lately.

It is a program that Apple wrote to show off the functions of Core Image at the last MacWorld Expo.

It's part of developer tools. Apple says it's included to "test your image units" but everybody knows it's pretty much a gee-whiz demo, unlike Quartz Compositor which is actually useful.

could you turn on all of the effects of core logic on an ibook

I don't know what you mean. If you're asking if every included core image unit works: they do.

Magic!

@macssuck - The stuff in your screenshot of CoreImage, does the filters stuff happen real time on the iBook?

Realtime? Yes - that was more or less the point of core image/video. You don't have to wait for the image units to be 'rendered' like when you apply 'tweaks' in after effects, you just add them and they start working.

It's important to remember that while all of the functionality of any given OS X AP/libraryI is supported, performance may suffer (severely) if appropriate hardware is not available to make the operation quick. Compare the performance of BLAS routines on a G3 and a G4 to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure what I can talk about without having the hand of Steve smite me. I will say that I would use the ADC hardware discount to purchase another machine with a ARB_Fragment card, and I think it would be a good idea for anybody that plans to do a lot of work that will benefit from core image to do the same.

This is way off topic.
