I have a simple question since i am a noob to the world of macs.

How do you show the hard drive info (capacity and disk space usage) on the desktop?

I tried searching... but I have spent nearly half an hour and couldnt find this info.

Go to the Finder.

Press Cmd-J.

Check "Show Item Info".

Done.

You're gonna need ShapeShifter (themes) and CandyBar (icons).

Ok, I've got a basic theme going. Im using the 15 day trial of ShapeShifter to contemplate buying it.

Also, how can I take a SS and save it as something with a smaller filesize (other than .tiff)? Im using Grab atm.

Use Shift-Apple-3 to take a fullscreen screenshot without using Grab. Then after that you should be able to open the image that is created with Preview and in the Save option select jpeg or some other format.

Here's my desktop:

The wallpaper comes from here: http://hakubaikou.deviantart.com/ (not mine.... only wish I could make somehting like that.). Yes, its Kenshin. I'm totally blown away by the quality of the work here. Its almost unrivaled in terms of other work I've seen before.

Otherwise everything is pretty simple. My dock has all the apps I regularly use and I haven't done much in customizing the system.
