ipod battery draining fast

my new ipod's battery seems to drain fairly low after only a few hours of use

is this because i skip around a lot in shuffle mode?

no- it's cause it's a stock ipod battery.

shuffle is actually good. manually selecting which songs u want to hear takes up battery power. turn off the backlight. try not to do a full discharge except every now and then just to reset the battery meter. go to http://www.ipodlounge.com for more ipod info. they're pretty knowledgeable about such topics.

Maybe it could be when you first recieved it, you didnt fully charge it for at least 24 hours or so, and used it within an hour of recharge, or what ever. This could be the reason why it dies fast :]

Yes. Make a playlist that you want to listen to and let it cache your songs.

Er? It could be so, you never heard of charging cellphones for at least 24 hours before first use? Practicly you need to charge anything for at least one day before first use.

My new iPod does the same thing. The battery meter is inaccurate, as it can play for quite a long time on a sliver in the battery meter. As said above, fully discharging every once in a while "resets" it, but I cannot be fully sure.

i think the 24 hour thing is more of an urban legend. if it affected the product that much, apple or whoever would inlcude that information and reccomend a 24 charge rather than the 4 or whatever it is they say to before using it. i just got a new ipod too and tested out the batter. mine lasted quite near 12 hours... the battery bar thing is probably just inaccurate.

Im having the same problem...as most users are with the ipod. the bat wont hold charge

but i have bought a new product from Griffn called Tune Juice For 19.99 (US) (at Sears)

Also i have found a replacement ipod bat over at Batteries Plus for 60 Dollars (US)

Should i get the new battery or not

its a common problem that is fixed by formating the iPod..

ipodlounge has a whole section on it... just format and reingstall ... thats what I did and it worked
