Just set it up with Outlook 2003, but i was wondering if there was any way to specify what folder to get new mail from, i just syncronised the account and its downloaded all the junk items, all my deleted mail and all the email ive sent into my outlook inbox?

there have been a number of threads on gmail and spam.

I get it as well. It all goes into the spam folder. The reason that gmail gets more - its a matter or perception.

However, my only prob with gmail, is its pattern matching with usernames. If a spam email gets sent to myemailadd, and no acct under that name exists, it gets set to the inbox of the closest match, which may be my_email_add, or my.email.address.

As for pop and smtp, been around a while, and its great.

If you've ever opened a spam email, and there was a picture inside, it's probably the reason why you're screwed.  Somehow they can check which account accesses each picture, and confirm that your account is active (and ready for more spam).

Yeah, thats why its good to use an email client that doesn't download pictures unless you ask it to.

Most web based clients (Hotmail, etc...) won't show images in spam e-mails unless you tell it to. I assume GMail does this too, correctd?

i have had gmail for months now, in this whole time 5 spam emails have arrived in the SPAM Folder were they belong, all of these emails there because of something i signed up for (eg tuneup 2004 adverts) when i agreed to there terms to download the trial of there program.. so, all of you gettin mass spam must have really hit the porn sites hard one evening ay?
