Senseotech
I've noticed some generic gunk on my iBook's screen, as well as that the casing seems to attract dust and other gray/black stuff ;) I thought about just using a damp cloth like in the user guide, but then I saw the cleaners avaliable in the Apple webstore, iclean and something else. They say they're LCD/notebook screen safe, and I assume that since Apple has them in their store that they indeed are, but I'm curious to hear from some one who bought some. Is it so much better than water and a dishrag that it warrants the $24+ to buy it? Is there something I could find locally that would do the job safely and cheaply? Senseotech
Just picked something up from a local store. It says its safe for laptops and non-glare coated monitors, but it contains alcohol and glycol ethers. They reek of alcohol and ammonia like substances, so I'm wary of using them. :-/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/264977-cleaners-on-apples-site/#findComment-585217083 Share on other sites

NetRyder
Damp cloth followed by dry cloth is just fine. :) For the rare, more stubborn stains, a 50/50 water-isopropanol solution works well. I bought iClean for my PowerBook and Cinema Display. It works. (Y) 585218201[/snapback] For $24+, it damn well better "work." Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/264977-cleaners-on-apples-site/#findComment-585218258 Share on other sites
thekore
damp lint free cloth works fine, followed by a dry lint-free cloth. however if you fancy going and spending ?24 on more apple branded material then go ahead:pp Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/264977-cleaners-on-apples-site/#findComment-585218303 Share on other sites
