Graphics Interchange Format, right. If it's an acronym I believe there is no correct pronunciation, other than to say it by it's letters. It's like asking what is the proper way to pronounce IBM.

Well, there are those rare cases when us folks that work in software and web design have to actually talk to colleagues. Occasionally, such "discussions" as we call them center around images used for a certain project and what format they need to be in.

Not trying to be harsh, but why wouldn't anyone say it out loud? Hell, GIF is an easy one. Try telling the guy next to you to send you the PNG version of a company logo. P-N-G? Ping? Pinge? ugh.

Before reading this topic I always pronounced it "Jiff", but I guess I'll start using "gift" -t, if that's supposely the more accepted way (I don't like using 3 syllables when I can use 1)
