[NCAA] Nokia Sugar Bowl

Recommended Posts

I got a bit nervous there at the end. Tuberville generally goes to a prevent defense late in the game with the lead no matter what. Safety slipped and allowed an 80 yard pass late. If you missed it the finel was Auburn 16, Virginia Tech 13.

The game would have been a lot different if the H-Back for the Hokie Pokies didnt drop that wide open TD when it was 6-0.

Oh well, woulda coulda shoulda. Almost a good comeback though.

Had VT's Full Back not dropped the pass that hit him in the chest it would have been a VT win...or if they didn't miss the FG then they would have forced overtime....It's too bad that VT strayed away from their offensive gameplan for the first 3 quarters, I haven't seen most of those plays since the 2000 season. But I can't take anything away from Auburn, even if Tech had won I would have still said Auburn is the best team in the nation.

Great job to Auburn to complete their best season ever. However, I am interested to know when this went from "Auburn should be in the National Championship game" to "Auburn should be National Champions". I am disappointed that Auburn didn't get a chance like everyone else, but I do not think they are number 1 in any way at all. They haven't been too impressive in either of the championship games they played. Number 2, we'll see, I think that's still possible depending on how both OU and USC play tonight, but I don't see Auburn being #1 at all. Either way, just like last year, there still is only one REAL national champion, no matter how much another team may want to say they are it. Auburn played incredible this year, and hopefully they will have a chance next year to prove how good they are. The bottom line is, Auburn isn't and wont be national champions no matter what, so lets give it a rest already. USC had the same thing happen last year, and look what happened, they came back the next year and made it to the big game, so stop complaining and get ready to show people who you really are next year ;)

That is rediculous... How do you know Auburn does not go down the field and score on the last drive if they need the points to win, or any other drive after that if they needed the points.

Get out of here....

I could not agree more, however all we heard for the last 365 days was how USC/LSU were co-national champions. I hope OU wins tonight, if not the media will talk USC up as back to back national champions, etc... FUSC

Yeah, back to back my ass, only one national championship counts, and that's the winner of the national championship game. Getting #1 in a seperate ranking is fine, but it doesn't make you the national champion still. However, it does show that maybe the BCS doesn't work so well (hah, maybe), and that you SHOULD have been national champions, but it STILL does NOT make you the national champions. USC has a history of giving themselves national championships when it's close for the year.:rolleyes:s:Edit:bIf I were to count the number of times OU has gotten #1 in a poll as a national championship for them, then OU would have 16, instead they have 7 legit championshipsi>

Thats why they play the game...jeez...calm down...I didn't say VT "should" have won...i meant that they could have...they blew some key chances.

says who? teh bcs? for everything up until 5 years ago, there were many publications that declared national champs.

everybody gives themselves national championships when they go undefeated. who's to say you aren't?

heck, even the AP/USA today polls haven't even been around that long...

auburn is a national champ in my mind, and i hate the SEC...

Auburn is a national champ as much as Utah is. If there should be a co-national champ, it should be Utah, because they dominated their bowl game along with every other game during the year. But, since they're not a big school, no one gives a damn.

National Champion is a word that is singular. It describes one, and only one team, unlike some people would like to believe. Granted Auburn did very well this year, they never showed enough to be placed higher than USC or OU during the season. Both of those teams started out at the top, and didn't do anything to prove that they should be placed otherwise. In my mind the only champion is the one that wins the national championship game. I don't care who rates you #1, you play the game, you win it, you're the champ. I don't care if OU was in Auburn's situation, it would still be the same.

Further, if the BCS was forced upon everyone, then that would be one thing, and I could possibly see some sympathy to teams who get left out. But if you vote for it, I don't want to hear your whining and complaining when it doesn't work out your way. I think everyone now agrees that the BCS is crap, and that it needs to be replaced, but guess what, until it is, we still play by BCS rules since that's what everyone agreed on. You don't get to change the rules to suit yourself.

I wish the NCAA would just take over the rankings and make them official so we wouldn't have teams like USC declaring themselves national champs whenever they want.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Auburn have the chance, but it isn't going to happen, so I go by how the system works.

Oh, and to correct one more thing:

heck, even the AP/USA today polls haven't even been around that long...

That's not true. The USA Today polls have been going on for over 20 years, and AP polls for well over 50 years.

They shouldn't have taken strength of schedule out of the BCS. You can go undefeated with a weak schedule, does that mean you should be thought as a better team? After watching the game [before I fell asleep, damn work], I don't think Auburn should be considered a national champion. Sure, they're really good, but no USC or OU.

Edit- On the video of Randall getting up-ended, he is damn lucky he didn't break his arm/extend his elbow.

Check this out, guys ;)

"A committee of college football experts to set the next national title game"

I don't see this being any better than the BCS, it just uses less people to pick who goes, and is more subject to corruption/bias than what we currently have. If they aren't going to change having one game be the deciding factor, then they might as well just leave it as it is. However I think the BCS needs to be completely elminated and someone else needs to be in charge.

I agree, and with that said the national championship game should be OU and Auburn, with USC not being a part of it at all. The Big 12 and SEC are both very difficult conferences, but the PAC 10 crap this year.

20 and 50 years bro...what do you think they did before that? they still played football, michigan's been playing since the 1800's...

get off of the bcs' nuts...just because they jump in and say we decide the winner, that doesn't mean they are right. that just means they signed a contract with somebody for a hell of a lot of money. they have no more right to declare a national champion than anybody else. and yes, there can be co national champions, there has been since college football began. why do you act like the bcs has so much power? in my mind, utah and auburn are legitimate national champs. you can't prove otherwise. all you can prove is that they won every single game they played.

    • I don't understand the vision. Do people really want to buy a new computer from Dell with 6 browsers installed? We all keep asking for Microsoft to stop having so much junk on their OS, and adding a bunch of browsers seems to go against that. Ideally, we would just be asked what browser we want during OOBE but Google is just going to pay Dell a bunch of money to include Chrome. Additionally, would you want your phones to start including all the browsers too when you get them? The only thing I ever wanted was to be able to uninstall IE or edge and I believe you are now able to. I do agree that microsoft needs to chill with their "are you sure you don't want to try edge before you install chrome" ads when going to download chrome.
    • The funny thing here is that like 70% or so of the web browser users use 'Google Chrome' as web browser. What I don't understand is that why on earth would ANYONE choose 'Google Chrome' on Windows when 'Microsoft Edge' is not just better in most things, but it's already there right out of the box for the Windows users. Microsoft Edge has less data collection (yes, that's a fact), less RAM usage and is more optimized for Windows (as it's a Microsoft product) right out of the box. I'm sure you will come with the argument of bloat in Microsoft Edge. Sure, but most of that can be fixed with a simple tool (there are many good ones out there for this). Yes, that require a couple of clicks in the same way as it requires several clicks to install 'Google Chrome'. And I'm sure you really love the 4 GB of AI-slop 'Google Chrome' is downloading without you agreeing to it. Fun right? Sure, the way Microsoft is pushing Microsoft Edge on users might not be the best way of doing it and might need to change. But I would never choose 'Google Chrome' over 'Microsoft Edge' today anyways. I'm sure there was a period back in the days when 'Google Chrome' actually was better in most things, but that period is not today.
    • JetBrains rolls out IntelliJ IDEA update with Markdown preview fixes and more by David Uzondu Image via JetBrains IntelliJ 2026.1.3 from JetBrains has landed, bringing several highly requested bug fixes that target common UI glitches and terminal rendering issues. If you run tmux inside the integrated terminal, the IDE no longer renders the cursor above the active line. The Markdown preview bug, which was fixed in this release, had annoyed developers for quite some time, as the preview pane failed to render images saved outside the project directory. Instead of displaying the actual image, the IDE simply showed a broken image icon, a problem that stuck around for two years before this update. Over on Windows, developers running WSL can now use wsl.exe to spin up their environments without losing terminal functionality. In previous builds, launching a terminal shell with something like wsl.exe -d ubuntu inside a Windows-based project broke both shell integration and active process detection. Other bug fixes in this release include: An issue where Gradle sync incorrectly reported success as a failure on WSL when using Gradle 9.5.0. A syntax highlighting bug that flagged valid Java for-loop initialization blocks with multiple statements as incorrect. A warning bug that triggered a false non-null local variable alert when using JSpecify annotations. A database generation bug that hid the option to use a DELETE statement instead of a TRUNCATE checkbox. A Kotlin highlighting failure where an assertion error in the Gradle redundant library inspection broke error highlighting. A UI bug where the ComboBox popup lacked a maximum height restriction. A Snowflake syntax error where DataGrip failed to support the "create temp" command. A Svelte syntax parsing failure that incorrectly flagged quotes inside inline expressions. A VCS repository manager deadlock that triggered thread pool exhaustion. A memory leak where the LazyTree component kept all previous versions of a tree in memory. IntelliJ 2026.1.3 is the third bug fix release for the IntelliJ 2026.1 series. The first one landed back in April with a fix for the WSL Python interpreter freeze, another fix for guest participants using Emmet abbreviations, and corrected WildFly server deployment errors.
