iBook Battery question

My new iBook should arrive any day now, this is my first laptop and my first Mac.

My question: I'm gonna use my iBook at home and at college alot, because of this is it ok to have it plugged in to the wall outlet whenever i'm using it on my desk(and i'm sure the college will have outlets by the work area)?

Will it hurt the battery if i have it plugged in most of the time? Because Apple says they dont recommend having it plugged in all the time.

What do you do for your iBooks or Powerbooks?

My Powerbook is plugged in most of the time and well over a year later I still get roughly the same amout of battery time out of it as I did when it was new.

Why does Apple say not to have it plugged in most of the time though?

If you dont need to use the battery, just plug it in the outlet. Thats what i would think.

Nope it will not. If you believe it would, just use the battery without the adapter and whenver you are running out put the adapter back in.

Another option would be to simply take the battery out and just use the AC adapter, although the iBook might be a little unbalanced due to the lack of weight on the front end.

Yes, it would. However, like I said, it will sit a little "off" since one of the feet for the iBook is on the battery, and it is well balanced when open due to the weight of the battery. Maybe you could look on eBay or somewhere else and find a used battery to put in it as a placeholder. Even if the battery was dead, it would at least fill the hole and add the weight.
