Last week I had a problem with my iPod (asked people in the forum) but couldn't fix it so I took my iPod to the store. They sent the iPod to Apple for having it repaired and they told me that Apple would send me a new iPod.

However, I don't trust them as somewhere at apple's webpage I read that the replacement iPod could be new or refurbished...

Does anybody know what it will be or if I can find it out? (my iPod was only two weeks old, if that matters)

Thanks

Maybe I haven't said it correctly... i have already taken the iPod to where i got it from, they have sent it to Apple and Apple is sending a 'new' iPod back to me. What I don't know is if I will get a really new iPod or a refurbished one...

Typically... when a unit is sent in for service, they run it through a diagnositc, and if the issue is found to be software related, (as in a simple restore using iPod sofware updater fixed the issue) then your same unit will be returned. If it is hardware related, then your iPod goes to the repair stack, and they pull a "factory reconditioned" unit off the shelves. This is different from "refurbished" The reconditioned units for the most part are brand new parts, all iPods that are serviced are given new cases free of scratches. The guts inside may be gently used, but honestly it doesnt make a difference. The replacement units carry the remainder of the warranty from the original unit, or 90 days hardware, whichever is longer. I wouldnt worry about this. They are also run through the same testing as if they had come from the main factory, and are guaranteed to perform correctly. Dont sweat it

Just see if your music is on the one you get back.

again.... one of the first things apple does, is restore or "reformat" the iPod to see if the software was causing the issue. This completely erases the iPod so there wont be any music on it at all, whether or not it is the same exact ipod.

Mine was a brandspankn new iPod 3G 15GB replacement.

(when mine broke and i sent for it to be repaired)

from the day i got the box to ship it to them, to the day i got the new one was only 4 days!  :D  :D  :D  A++ for customer service!

That is good to hear, because I'm taking my iPod to fix it too. :)

    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
