Foodie Monster
Hihi everyone! I know this will sound weird, but the thing is like this: a relative has a PowerBook G4 with a SuperDrive, right? And I have an iBook G4. He doesn't use his burner for anything else than reading CDs (He doesn't burn ANYTHING). The thing is that, on the other hand, I am an iBook G4 1Ghz owner, with just a ComboDrive... but I DO need to burn DVDs. So, if I managed to remove the PB's SuperDrive, would it work on my iBook? And would that ComboDrive fit into the PB? If so, is it hard to do? Voiding the warranty is no big deal since it's already void anyway. How-To's and all that stuff will be always appreciated! Thanks! XP_01
I don't know, but something I do know is that the warranty for both Macs will drop. So that's something you'd like to think over before doing anything :) Edited January 6, 2005 by XP_01 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/267527-exchanging-a-pb-superdrive-with-a-ibooks-combo-dr/#findComment-585243671 Share on other sites
Foodie Monster
Well, I did say it doesn't matter if I void the warranty... ^^ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/267527-exchanging-a-pb-superdrive-with-a-ibooks-combo-dr/#findComment-585244626 Share on other sites
Bling3k12
Technically, it could work. Physically? Don't know if it'll fit right. I've taken apart iBooks before, but not the new ones with slot loading drives. Vice
I remember a long time ago, apple did a boo boo and some iBooks were sent out with super drives in them, the 12inch iBook and the 14inch iBook were sent out with super drives from powerbooks. Of course they fixed that, and now you can just buy iBooks with super drives in them now from the apple store.
