LordHatrus
How does one customize the login quote-thingies? You know, the quote things you get when you first login, without X and everything. google wasn't much help to me, due to my not knowing what they're called. Yay. It feels good to be back on neowin after a half-year hiatus... edit: Sweet jesus, my PM inbox is HUUUUUUGE.... ichi
You can use /etc/motd to place text that will be shown when loggin. Also /etc/issue has something to do with that kind of messages, but I'm not sure about when it's displayed exactly. zeta
It depends. Usually, it's done with the "fortune" program, and ~/.login will run fortune as the last thing it does before you enter the login shell. LordHatrus
Yay! I found the answer to my easy question. Files are found in /usr/share/games/fortune. and the only other thing to do is edit the script in /etc/profile.d/ Thanks, zeta, for the name of the app. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/267536-customizing-login-quotes/#findComment-585244641 Share on other sites
