Programs Similar To The New Napster

Question

Just wondering, do you folks know of any programs similar to Napster that are compatible with Windows 98? Basically, I just want a program that will allow me to download and listen to as much music as I want, that's why I liked Napster's $9.99 plan. I am a Napster customer, but I am the only one in the household who has a computer running Windows XP. It seems as if iTunes, MSN Music, and RealRhapsody can be counted out. Thanks alot for any help, my family needs to upgrade their computers.

Are you sure MSN Music Store is not available for Windows 98?

http://music.msn.com/help/requirements

System Requirements

These are the minimum requirements to play radio or purchase music from MSN.

Hardware and Software Requirements

Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, or Windows XP

Internet Explorer 5.01 (or later), which supports 128-bit encryption

Windows Media Player 7.1 (or later), we recommend the latest version

A 233 megahertz (MHz) processor (such as an Intel Pentium II or Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) processor) or faster

64 megabytes (MB) of RAM or more

Speakers and sound capability

Payment with a valid credit card with a U.S. billing address

To enjoy high-quality audio as a Radio Plus subscriber, you will need Windows Media Player 9 Series (or later)

I also believe Sony Connect Music Store is compatible with Windows 98

Thanks alot for the reply, I guess I counted MSN Music out because you have to buy tracks to listen to them. Basically, I just want to pay one monthly fee and be able to download as many tracks as I want, I don't care about burning them or transferring to a device. Also, Sony Connect says that it is compatible with Windows 98 SE, will it work with the regular Windows 98?

Here's the list of music stores I have checked.

MSN Music Store

iTunes Music Store

Music Match

Napster

Sony Connect

Real Rhapsody

And none of them support Windows98.... your family should have at least Windows98SE.

You should probably look for less famous music stores, which probably doesn't offer a lot of choices..

    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets another hotfix for one of the game's online modes by Taras Buria Recently, Forza Horizon 6 players discovered an interesting glitch that allowed farming a crazy amount of in-game credits in a few minutes. Playground Games quickly pulled the plug on the exploit by disabling one of the game's online modes, and today, the studio is rolling out another hotfix. In my review, I complained about the game still showering gamers with cars, credits, and wheelspins. As such, earning money in Forza Horizon 6 is not a particularly difficult task. You simply have to play the game, crazy, I know. However, people still found an easier path to becoming a billionaire in Forza Horizon 6. All you had to do was purchase the Hummer EV, install a specific tune, shift in reverse while going at about 15 MPH, hit a wall, and get launched into the stratosphere at the speed of light. While mid-air, launch Eliminator and quickly get eliminated. Boom, the game just awarded you with a few million in-game credits. Initially, Playground Games disabled Eliminator to prevent people from farming credits. Now, following the release of the first balancing update, developers are rolling out a new update that re-enables Eliminator and gives users a free McLaren Sabre as a gesture of goodwill. Here is the changelog: One critical issue remains unpatched, though. There are quite a few reports of the game wiping gamers' saves, and developers are still looking into that. To avoid potential data loss, Playground Games recommends taking one of the steps outlined in a previously published support article.
