I need help picking out a digital camera!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am in the market for a new digital camera and this is what I am looking for:

1. something under $400

2. it needs to be smallish

3. needs to be reliable

4. would like the ability to take short movie clips

5. needs to take nice pictures!

So far the best I have found is the Canon PowerShot SD300

if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I was trying to decide which new digital camera to buy too; I couldn't wait and went right to buying the SD300. I am quite satisfied; it's very stylish and compact, there's no doubt about it! The video feature is awesome too, but you'll definitely need to buy a high capacity card for it, which means more $$. I am pleased with the quality of the picture (if it doesn't end up being blurred of course). However, being small can be difficult at times if you don't have steady hands -- but even if you do, when you press the shutter, it'll still slightly move. There are a few ways around it though, but if you want really clear shots it's best to get a tripod for this too.

How about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX2

It has 4mpix, 3x optical zoom, can record movies, with length limited by available space, dimensions are 94 x 50 x 24 mm (3.7 x 2.0 x 1.0 in), and weights only 148 g (5.2 oz).

My friend has it, and it's a great cam. Should be around $330.

Or if you have more money, get FX7, it's 5mpix and about $415 here.

I just ordered an FX7, which is a higher megapixel version of the FX2. I got it for $361 at Beach Camera. I also considered are the Pentax S5i, but went with the Panasonic because of better reviews. Minolta and Casio Exilim also have a few models of about the same style.

Bro, my buddy just got the SD200 and let me tell u, its a gr8 camera and u can't go wrong with a Canon, I have the s330 for 3 years now and like i said u can't go wrong with a Canon.

Don't get the SD300 I say u get the SD200 the only diff between these two is the megapixels the SD300 has 4 and the SD200 has 3.2 that is all and maybe the body casing, plus is cheaper :D

U only need megapixels if u r going to do large prints and i mean large ones but if u r only going to do regular size ones u don't need more than 2 megapixels.
