A Question about Apple Warranty

I got an iPod Photo for Christmas. I'm just wondering, if I need to get it fixed for any reason, how am I supposed to prove it's under warranty, since I don't have the receipt?

Make sure you register the product with Apple. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Apple will have it on file from the Serial Number. I know when I took my powerbook in for a repair, I told them I had AppleCare and they confirmed right from their computer. I didn't have a receipt with me or anything.

I didn't get mine from Apple and they offered to place AppleCare on it when I went to get accessories from the Mac Store.

Call AppleCare 1-800-275-2273, and they will ask for your serial number. Ask them what purchase date they have on file, if there isnt one, they will ask you and you can ballpark it as close as you can. All purchase dates are stored in the system and thats how they keep track of warranties.
