How to rip DVDS onto computer

Recommended Posts

I don't know what formats the video supports. I looked for the instruction manual and couldn't find it. All I know is that Videows Media Player 10 suppots ASF, DVR-MS,AVI,MPEG1,PEG2,MPE,M1V,MPG,MP2,WAV,AU,SND. It mentions AVI in there so I bet it supports that since the device will take anything from windows media player. So what will AutoGk do? Will I be able to transfer the DVD onto my Creative Zen PMC from it?

You can use DVDDecrypter to rip a dvd to your computer, but you'll have to use another application to convert it to a Windows Media File. You can use an application such as Intervideo DVDCopy to create a Windows Media File out of the dvd-video files. Also, you can download the Windows Media Encoder for free from Microsoft. I tried it, but never finished encoding a file with it. It seemed to take a lot of processor power (100%) and worked rather slowly. (I have a Pentium 4, 2.53Ghz.)

Anyways...a typical movie can be compressed to around a gig and a half (if you want almost dvd quality) using divx. If you want the file even smaller (around 700megs), you can do that with divx also. But, keep in mind the resolution of the film will get worse when you enlarge the frames on a media viewer.

I don't work with Windows Media Files too much. These sites may help you out: DVDRHelp.com and Doom9.net. There are sections on various encoding types and methods. The only real way to learn how to do it is to read and read a lot. Also, experimenting with different methods (to find which one works for you) is a good way to hone your encoding skills. That's how I learned (use TMPGEnc solely) and had much fun doing it.

Hope that helped you somewhat.

^ How many products come with software to rip out copy protection?  Would you sell a product to do it?  If so, your kind of dumb.

To enable people to make backups of THEIR own product they own. Sorry I am not understanding your logic of that being stupid?

To "enable" that, you are breaking the law.  321 studios ring a bell?

Film Companies working together to make software so you can backup your legally owned software ring a bell?

DVDShrink

CloneDVD

ACE DVD Backup

ring any bells?!?!?

You think "Film Companies" are backing applications to break CSS? ha. Sorry, but that's got to be the stupidest thing sI have ever heard.. The people wanting to protecting it making apps to break it. Where did you come up with this idea?
