WMP 10 cant play mp3, but winamp can?

Im at work so i cant download winamp since its blocked by websense.

i downloaded some mp3s at my house and brought them here on my usb hand drive...thing is, whenever i try to play them on WMP 10, it says it might not support the codec used to encode the file...

but when i play the files on winamp they're ok.

any ideas? i already downloaded the codec pack from microsoft...

it also isnt' a problem of the id3 tag, since it has none...

please help.

Jack Pearce?: Don't suggest people do stupid things like that, plus it's pirating (ie against the rules here)

WMP and Winamp use different decoders, installing codec packs such as the one above will generally install pirate decoders that will break the ones in Windows to start with, not a good move.

I think the decoder is l3codeca.acm for WMP, you might copy that over from your XP cd again.

Convert them at home to .wma format then play them at work.

If you can find one that has "open source" codec's please let me know. XviD and ffdshow are your open source codecs.

DivXNetworks, Microsoft, Cyberlink, InterVideo, Ligos, MainConcepts, NVIDIA, Ahead, Intel, 3ivX, FhG, On2, Voxware, Morgan, and so on are all companies making codec's and you guys are stealing them in your little codec packs. It's illegal to redistribute them at all, even free ones without the consent of the owners. If you can find a codec pack that has just XviD and ffdshow, download it. However, ffdshow decodes XviD, kind of pointless there unless you are looking to use ffdshow VfW to encode XviD.

      Huh? I have an Aeron Remastered and the backrest cannot go up or down (only the lumbar is adjustable). Yes, the Doro C300 Pro V2's backrest can be locked, but the locking mechanism is so weak that when you recline and lean back the backrest moves with your body. I think the whole purpose of this chair is that all of the moving parts (except for the rocking, which can be locked in place) are supposed to move with your body, as you shift your weight, that's why I couldn't get used to it. Some people might like it though. Its redeeming factor is the price, I mean it costs like a quarter of what a new Herman MIller (Aeron) costs.

      US citizens are paying to their government, who could use that to fund healthcare and tuition and relieve the costs of these for citizens instead of making tax breaks that overwhelmingly favor the rich. I'm not saying that tariffs are the correct solution, but what else would they be used for? What else could Trump have in mind for wanting them, if he hasn't figured out that labor costs are higher in the US?
