[BBC] For everyone in the UK

Recommended Posts

The BBC will repeat an eye opening series today at 11:20 PM on BBC 2 called the "Power of Nightmares". The documentary uncovers the current US presidential (and the British New Labour party) background and how and why they are ?terrorising? the citizens of the US (and the UK) by presenting a totally fabricated and over exaggerated perception of a ?war on terror?. They investigate the founding stones of the neo-conservative movement in the US and also the foundation of what the US government actually coined as ?Al-Qaeda?.

The BBC showed this documentary in the UK just before the US elections and if it were shown in the US last year, the election outcome would have been radically different! As I?ve stated before, the show is an eye opener and as others have stated, it should be classed as ?required viewing?. After the show was originally aired, the BBC was over whelmed with requests for this series to be re-aired. I received an eMail yesterday from the BBC to inform me that it will be shown again today.

There are 3 episodes to the ?Power of Nightmares?Part 1: ul>

[*]Part 1: ?Baby It's Cold Outside?

Airing: Tuesday (18th January 2005) at 11Part 2:

[*]Part 2: ?The Phantom Victory?

Airing: Wednesday (19th January 2005) aPart 3: BC2.

[*]Part 3: ?The Shadows in the Cave?

Airing Thursday (20th January 2005) at 11:20 PM on BBC2.

Be sure to record this series as the BBC cannot produce a DVD of this series of documentaries because of all the copyrighted licences they will need to pay for in order to do so.

Hmmm. I have reservations over the subject matter, but I would prefer to watch the BBC's coverage to see how it is handled, unfortunately Im going to guess Ill be in bed by the time it is shown tonight, shame, if it is repeated when I get Sky+, Ill definately record and watch it.

Thanks for the heads up (Y)

Just use your VHS recorder to tape it.

Don't start me on the BBC, all they do is show repeats, so you should be o.k. there.

BBC broadcast what they wish to broadcast not really what is fact.

But that means I have to work out how to use Videoplus and finding a tape etc etc.

In all honesty, I dont have enough interest in the subject to be wholly bothered right now. I do agree tho, Im sure it will be repeated again, and hopefully reshown on something like BBC3 / 4 at a more convenient time.

That's fine. I know the producer has an agenda, that being to open our eyes and as an open minded Brit and a Muslim, I have always seen what is really happening and would agree with what he is showing us. As stated, the show is an eye opener and I had learned a lot from it. Later when I investigated many of the claims made on the show, to my horror I found them to be true.

Even if you are not swayed by the information provided on this documentary, it really is worth staying up for to watch this.

I think I'm also swayed by the last couple of docu's Ive seen that have been commissioned by the BBC, one on racism and one on abortion - they were both abhorrant, and hosted by alledged 'researchers' who were trying to promote an argumentative opinion trying to be controversial rather than just doing a straight informative interview with those involved. They both really made me sick, and it wasnt because of the subject matters, it was just because they were carried out so badly.

Ultimately I think it should be left to the general public to decide whatever they feel is right, and the BBC should just present the subject matter to us, not carry out their hidden biased agendas.

I do agree with you. A documentary should show you the facts and allow the viewer to learn AND draw their own conclusions. I do feel that this documentary does that, especially by showing to us what we don?t know about the foundations of the neo-conservatives and of the foundations of ?Al-Qaeda?. With all the facts that I know, this documentary was an eye opener and does present a lot of information that the average person may not be aware of.

Just to remind all our British Forumers here, the second part of this documentary will be airing today at 11:20 PM on BBC 2.

I've seen it before, very interesting show, am recording it tonight also.

Regarding the BBC quotes, this guy sure didnt like it

This programme had as much relationship to reality as a Harry Potter novel. Apparently 9/11, Bali, Madrid, attacks on Christians in Iraq and Pakistan etc, are all fantasies whereas the so-called "Neo-Cons" are all too real and are the cause of today's problems. All this programme does is confirm the BBC as an anti-Bush, anti-Israel, anti-democracy pressure group for which we, the licence-payers, are forced to pay.

Andrew, Bournemouth

Are there any other shows which show a counterpoint to this?

    • Still hate Windows 11, I stuck it on my gaming machine again just for a nose to see what they had done, still as bad. Will restore Windows 10 back on it, suit MS anyway, they don't want me to run Windows 11 on it.
    • Ms did go with the you must sign into an account thing with Windows 8 for a while. The same sort of thing they are doing with Windows now and the MS account.
    • Hello, What sort of Microsoft Authenticator account login approval requests are you getting?  It is a generic authentication app and can be used with all sorts of services (Microsoft Account, Google Account, websites and services that support multi-factor authentication, etc.). Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Windows 8? Nah. I found Window 8 worked well, get a third party start menu to get rid of the start screen, I used Start is back and windows 8 was pretty good. I used it even when Windows 10 came out as I found Windows 10 was iffy on my machine at the time was AMD FX Bulldozer based. It was only when I updated the innards to Ryzen that I had no choice but to go to Windows 10 as MS made it difficult to stay with Windows 8. ME, yes, that was not great, I liked the look of it, but it was not stable, shame really because Windows 98SE was the best of the dos based Windows.
