ok, i tried to mod my ibook, but i couldnt get the outer casing to come off.

i took the screws out but it seems to still be stuck on there. i read there are clips connecting it to the screen, but where are they located at? i'm afraid to pry harder and end up breaking my screen =[

same here, I'm using a 12inch iBook when I undid the screws it did not just come off, I tried pulling it off but its on there quite tight.. I don't want to break it or warp any plastic.

i got mine off. but it took some guts to just go ahead and pry it off and hopefully nothing breaks.

i started with the top two corners, then moved in between them. when the top was completely loose, i just started prying on the sides and eventually, i had the top and the side loose, that it became easy to take off.

i used some old colored transparent folder/binder dividers. i had the choice of blue, orange, purple and yellow, and in the end, blue was the best choice =]

i also removed the white piece over the light so its brighter, and i love it =]

I did this to mine (blue) when i first got it a year ago. But it became cheesy very fast and I took it out.

But if you cut the piece of white paper out of the middle that further diffuses the white light, it makes the apple glow about 200% brighter!

Looks best as a big vibrant white apple IMO. Esp contrasted against the Black Paint :shifty:

just did mine tonight...  really pleased with the results!

Looks good. That USB cable in the background sure looks familiar, Sony digital camera cable maybe? Looks exactly like the one that came with my DSC-P32.

yup you guessed right :D

Which model do you have? How much memory? I have the DSC-P32 with the original 16MB card, a 128MB card and a 1GB card. I don't use the 16MB card anymore for anything, and I have the 128MB card in a USB reader as a makeshift thumb drive. The 1GB card is sweet, I run down my batteries long before I could fill it, even doing video with it. The thing is basically a micro camcorder now that I have that card. It will hold about 45 minutes of MPEG-1 video at 640x480.

I have a 1.2ghz G4 iBook, the one right before the 1.33ghz. I tried doing this, but couldn't get the back off. I took out the 4 hex screws and expected it to be a breeze from there, but it wasn't. There's somethign extra holding the back onto the screen. Any ideas/suggestions?

After finding a guide on removing the cover on PB 12's, I went ahead and did this with the supplies I had on-hand (transparent colored notebook dividers). It doesn't look nearly as good as the iBooks, probably due to the contrast between the white and red. I'm gonna go ahead and pick up some stuff at a craft store tomorrow. What am I looking for? Wax paper?

    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
