Apple Ipod

I was just looking throught the new Argos catalouge and saw the Ipod mini and next to it had the MP3 logo but also the WMA logo, when did this happen or did they make a mistake?

Well in fact it does sort of support WMA.... in that iTunes will offer to convert WMA's to AAC's for you... so as long as you don't mind the loss in quality you can use WMA's with an iPod.

But you have to convert them, which ain't WMA.

If you go by that principle any file will work on any DAP - just ain't true.

Apple didnt want to pick up the standard.... but they offered to convert. they prob wont change their attitude on that one

It doesn't support it because they only want you to be able to purchase music from them to then put it on the device. iPods sell music from the iTMS, iTMS sells iPods. Giving you a choice is not something Apple wants to do.

I think that they should support it.

It's not like they are loosing anything by supporting it, and they are saving users time by doing so.

I think every player should support every major format (MP3, AAC, WMA, OGG, WAV) and should allow you to buy music from any store of your choice.

But then we'd be living in a perfect world. :)
