1.  May be possible by editing an .ini file

2.  Not sure about that one  Visit the forums at http://my.opera.com/

3.  That would have to be implemented by the Opera developers.  Good idea, though.

thanks, checking it out. i'm not a very technical guy though but will post if i find anything.

Two features to emulate in Opera :

1. How to do "double-click close tabs" in Opera?

2. How do I rearrange the personal bar so that it is placed below the address bar, and have the tab bars be below the personal bar (just like in Firefox) ??

1. You can't you will have to use the [x] on the tab (assuming you are using 8 beta) or middle click or use CTRL Q or mouse gesture (down right).

2. You cant, the best you can do is enable the status bar to the top and add the elements from the personal bar by holding down shift and dragging them.

Oh and one last feature :

3. How to make the personal bar work like in Firefox? I mean if I have about 20 items it would all be squashed in Opera, but in Firefox, there's a nice arrow on the right that expands like a folder.

When you right click and select customize I'm sure there is an option to show the extender menu. I can't check right now because I'm at college. I can't remember if they (opera developers) removed the extender bar in the 8 beta.

Ok I'm home now so I can answer your questions a bit better.

1. same answer as above.

2. It's a bit of a hassle to do but it is possible.

post-25418-1106833457_thumb.jpg

To achieve this I

a) right clicked on the addressbar and selected customize

b) selected the navigation bar

c) clicked on the buttons box and then clicked on search and dragged a search to the address bar.

d) exited the customize window and dragged the address bar down to the navigation bar along with the search box and the little eye.

e) right clicked on anything I didn't want and seleceted remove and also dragged things around to where I wanted them (you will need to hold SHIFT down to drag stuff) .

f) went here and got the dropdown button for the bookmarks and dragged it to where I wanted it.

3. When you right click on the personal bar and select customize then select on show extender menu from the dropdown box beside wrapping.

Session saver, tweak some bandwidth settings, use a moox custom build: it's not identical to Opera, but when I'm forced to fall back to it I can tolerate it.

Not to mention mouse gesture, download setting tweak, and bunch of other things.

    • Can't reproduce. I installed Edge, went to neowin.net > accepted the cookie consent > used menu to go to forums, everything loads and I can browse around the forums. If you can't interact with the dialog on the forums for some reason, go to the main site and accept the cookie consent there? It is true that the site will not function properly until the cookie consent is accepted or rejected,. it's a legal requirement and I also know that certain VPN/ad blockers block it, which is a user related issue and not a neowin.net prolem. This is not our cookie consent dialog. Gotta love browser hijacking... /s

    • The level of stupidity at Google and Microsoft is beyond belief. All they are doing by killing this is forcing people to jump over to Firefox and ditch them all together, therefore giving Firefox the market boost it needs to finally crush them all in the end.
