i guess its where you live and the standard of living.. here in cali my family is living "comfortabley" but if we were to move to nebraska or massachusetts with the money THEY have we'd be filthy rich.

edit:

Aww poor you. Get a job earn your own money.

Ours was valued at ?200,000 before we had a massive bathroom built and did a few things, its going to be revalued once the conservatory is built! Im guessing after, anywhere between 200 and 30:D :D

Lol, that would have to be some conservatory to add ?100,000. To be fair though, with the other stuff and the way house prices have risen in Britain, it wouldn''t be surprising if it was worth that much.

All these people talking about location, that is completely true. My step-dad paid ?60,000 a few years ago for our house (well most of it is mortgage). Similar houses in the 'nice' areas nearby were selling for ?80,000 + .

I think ours has doubled in value because of the work my step-dad has done....built a garage and conservatory, new kitchen and bathroom fittings . But again, similar houses in other areas are worth ?200,000 plus.

hi, im a bit bored and today i was thinking about how much my house i live in is worth, im 15 lol so i live with my parents and annoyin sis ? but i think it is about ?200,000. it was ?35,000 when we first moved in but since we have done lots to it, including a huge extension doubling the size, conservatory and done out every room in the house. there are 12 rooms inc the lo:laugh:gh:? lol not including hall way and stairs l:yes::yes: , the only problem is the area i :pinch:inch:

Mine is worth ?3.5 million. It's real worth is about ?450,000 due to recent inflation of vulgar house prices. It's in a nice location with land that has planning permission, that's why it's worth so much.

I will give you an example of the past 10 years in the south of England, Maidstone, 3 bedroom house, near railway station, close to town centre, 10 years ago ?24k, now ?179,995, it's a country gone crazy.

If you have a house which was say 50k, then during boom, went to 200k in 5 years, you have made no profit, as when you sell you still have to find a house to live in and they will be the same value.

crazy crazy crazy.

I think I'm going to bring this to an end. It has become (well perhaps it was from the start) a "Post Your...." type of thread that leads to bragging, competition and other unpleasantries.

If you wish to start another thread to discuss urban vs rural, nice house in bad neighbourhood vs bad house in nice neighbourhood type of issues then please do so but let's avoid mentioning actual house values of your home or neighbourhood.

You will note that the only house price that I posted about in this thread was to demonstrate the importance of location. Not that I ever claimed to live there (or even near there). I wish!
