Well I went back to L Computers to see what kind of BS they were shoveling this month and it looks like they found some venture capitalists that bought into their lies. MaximumPC published 2 of my essays regarding these guys and their vaporware, and it looks like they have upped the ante somewhat.

5 Ghz "Personal Supercomputer"

World's 1st Dual Processor Notebook

PuRAM - whatever that is ??

and a instant/non bootable OS, basically a Rocketdrive (flash) holding a revamped version of XP that supposedly boots instantly...

Oh yeah an 8 feet of High Def LCDs...

A year ago when I first found out about them (before I found out it was a hoax) I tried to purchase a Mach 1, basically a 4.5 Ghz P4 EE on a Vapochill case @ -50 degrees. 16 Gigs RAM, 2 terabytes of HD ...blah, blah, blah...

well nobody ever returned a single phone call or email, I had my credit card in hand ready to go.....SCAM !

Well here is the link for some great looking pics....

Go L computers was real it wasn't a Hoax there computers were not designed by them though, they were built by Korean manufacturers and sold though Go L.

All they did was go round Korean places pick out these amazing computers that costed 1/4th the price they are advertised on the Go L site then they sold them. They said they closed down because they wasn't making enough money to keep themselves afloat (they had allot of investors that pulled out to the end)

I hear they are trying to get more investors so they can start up again ... good luck to them I say if the guy who runs it gets rich then hey good job not like it effects us who built our own computers.

Several times MaximumPC asked readers if they or anyone they know has ever owned one, and not a single person knows anyone that ever owned one. They did send a test model to MaximumPC but it had none of the fancy hardware they tout on their website. and it failed on quite a few tests. Mainly because they were using the old Vapochill case which uses only 1 PSU for computer and refrigerator/compressor.

But I agree, I hope someone does finally make them a reality - I'll be the first in line to buy one of those things..

I like that Apple G5 looking case they have....but I am a fan of that Vapochill case with the LCD in the middle showing a Quad SCSI RAID and 5 Ghz @ -50 degrees :)

They were fake, their main homepage exploited a issue in ie to install spyware!

Also, half of the technical specs are made up (e.g. PuRAM)

And that copy of xp that boots instantly, it doesnt exist.

its not fake. My friend has one of the earlier models. 3.8Ghz

the new ones use PuRam, and dont use harddrives. Instead, they have the XP system files all loaded up onto flash, so you can turn the computer on and off like a TV, never waiting for it to start up.

well whats funny is there old site which claimed their financial stress and having to restructure looking for more capital, had all of these sad stories from supposed customers and how horrible it is that such a wonderful company like L Computers had to close their doors. L Computers even claimed to open retail locations (3). I sent L Computers an email calling them everything but a white guy, and they replied with a pre-generated, "Thank You for your Support" - When MaximumPC published my essay about them, they even printed all the crap I said to them ...it was pretty funny.

They had a Configure your Supercomputer in the past a la (Alienware, VoodooPC, et al) and you could select like 32 Gigs of RAM, 2 Terabytes of HD, this puRAM (someone said its a Centon RocketDrive) and L Computers doesnt have the patent on any of it.... but the computer I built was $52,000.00  I mean everyone needs 6 feet of LCD splendor, right ?!

Well your friend might be the only person on the planet.

Thier ealier computers might have been real, but the current ones they are showing are a figment of the mind of the person who did the photoshops of the computers/monitors on the front page of their site.

The quad is called grand canyon, the 5 is called Athens.

Don't buy multiple monitors, buy one big good one.

Thanks for clearing that up (Grand Canyon thingy)

As for the LCD fiasco, the one Im getting is just a 23" HP 2335...it hits high resolution(HD) and low response time for gaming @ $1600. - 2 of those would be really cool. Can someone tell me who uses multiple monitors for gaming? -- are the images stretched horizontally to compensate, or is there simply a wider Range of View ?
