A friends old PC is in for repair and he needs to use the internet. I looked and the latest version of IE that Windows 95 supported is 5.5 I looked up and found the setup (400KB~) but the problem is MS I think has removed the target because it gives me a error. So im looking for the full offline instalation and in Spanish. THe hard part is that its in Spanish because all i find on the web is English. If someone can give me a link please (Lets see who is the best Googler on Neowin :p )

This Page has links to a ton of different versions of IE including 5.5-5.5sp2

It has links for 5.5 to the FULL installer download version instead of the 500kb install

I think those have the spanish language included in them but I'm not sure. It's worth a shot though if you can't find anything else :D

IIRC, on win9x the language stuff is included in a seperate language pack, so if you get a "full" installer, and it's truly full, it ought to have them (Spanish included - then the worst that could happen is that you would have to muddle through the installer in English, which might be a pretty simple guessing game). That might be at least partially why you can only find English, but never having gone looking for versions of IE in other languages, I really can't say with certainty.

Alright. Here is the best I can do for you. It is the Spanish language download of IE 5.5 SP2, which is the latest version of IE that works in Windows 95. It is only the small installer file, but you can use the command to force it to download all IE files.

Go to the following website (it's in Spanish). Download the file by clicking on the button labeled Descargar. It will download the Web installer for IE 5.5 SP2, which is only 505 KB in size.

Once you have it downloaded, place it directly in your C drive root folder. That is, download, move, or copy it directly to the C drive (not to any subfolder within C:).

Go to Start->Run, and copy the following command exactly as it appears (including quotes):

"C:\ie5setup.exe" /c:"ie5wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

Hit Enter, and you will be able to customize the download of IE 5.5 SP2 for whichever operating systems you want (as soon as you accept the license agreement), including Windows 95. The files for Windows 95/98 require about 22.2 MB of downloading.

Hope this helps you. This is really the only way I could think of to do this by still downloading directly from Microsoft.

If you need any more help, I can post some screenshots for you showing what to do. If you cannot do this, I'll be glad to download the files for you and send them to you over MSN, or by whatever other means you suggest.

Im at school right now so i cant post a screen. Anyone else got a solution

Greeting,

I have a friend who is graphic artist and she needs to be able to go on internet and do her research project. She is having hard time visiting latest websites because she runs windows 95. Her husband and I were talking about upgrading to 98 se, but it would be nicer if she could just update the browser, because everything else is working fine for her.

Do you know how up-to date IE5.5SP2 is? What are the kind of stuff IE5.5SP2 can't handel? I am glad to run into this board with link to the full installation package.

Thank you

If the computers OS (Windows 95) is also in Spanish, you should be able to go to Windows Update and download the most rececent version of IE 5.

If the installation file is giving you an error, then MS may have removed the download and you'll need to find the full installation somewhere else. I tried looking on FileMirrors.com, but I can't tell which files might be the Spanish version.

This is very bizarre. I could have sworn I made a post about this a few days ago with an actual download link to the Spanish version of IE 5.5 SP2 for Windows 95/98.

I don't know what happened to it, but I still have the link on my computer at college. I am at home right now for a few days, but I can post that link again on Wednesday. If anything, I also download it, so if all else fails, I can just send it to you.

i remember a site called oldversion.com that got almost everything  anyways i would reccomend use opera

Well, that site does indeed have IE 5.5 SP2, but only the English version. Now, if they add all the languages to the site, that would really be awesome!

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.

    • "connect with audiences" is the most obvious corporate speak you can think of. I only bought Need for Speed from EA because it was the only racing game with cops in existence and I dig that. Now that they killed off NFS franchise, I have nothing to spend money on. EA is officially dead for me, just like Ubisoft which I've been boycotting for some 20 years now...
