Yep its comeing along great, been chatting with Dayle on and off, hes not had much time for all the codeing hes been doing (im not too sure when hes got any sleep in  ) He finally fell asleep an hour ago, or his net cut off eheh.

Just hope he will be able to get round this SSL bug otherwise it will be a major setback to the program.

Keep the support up guys this is great.

Cant promise anything, but when a good working version of this is out i might take al ook at AIM protocol.... MAYBE dont get hopes up this was intended to be for MSN

I hope you do. Then this program will be great!!!!! :woot:

AIM support would be awesome, as all my friends insist for some reason to use it.

The new interface is beautiful, I really like the tabs, and some options to go along with that would be great (such as moving around groups, statuses, and whatnot).

Anyways, if any help is needed I'd be glad to help. Not good at coding really but I can do any graphics/web work if you want to set up any of that.

Good luck!

Thanks for comments :)

Right, this is what I plan to do.

The tiles style conversation list, at the moment is messing up so much im not able to update a lot of the program, im sure it can be fixed... but right now its taking up all my time, so FOR NOW i will be removing the fancy list and replacing it with a normal list like MSN has always had.. it will look ugly, but like i said its a temporary measure.

The login box has been created and added which is another feature needed for a test to be released, it doesnt have profile storage yet like we planned, but again that will be added later. I'm gonna fix the IM windows up to a state in which im comfortable with for the moment, and add some basic list function, like add user remove user.

When this is done i will release an Alpha build, please do not get excited.. this build will not be very pretty, it will be a resource hog, some features wont be included yet etc etc, probably wont be able to be used as your main client, however it is going to be simply a demo that the messenger is real, and not just photoshoped mockups.

You may be wondering ''if its so crap surely its not a good idea to release it yet'' well i have my reasons as follows.

A Messenger app is a fairy large program, i have written some bits of code that i wish id have done another way now, and changing them would mean changing a lot of things. I also want to change the type of sockets im using, currently im using a Winsock-type DLL for .NET... which seemed a good idea at the time but now i wish i hadnt, i want to recode it using .NET System.net.sockets. ( dont worry if your lost this is where i explain what this all actually means)

Therefore while your playing with that alpha build, im going to open a fresh copy of VB... and write the whole client from the ground up, making all the changes that i mentioned above as i go along... this will not mean that it will take ages as a some of the code from existing copy can still be used.

The alpha build will be Version 0.6, I cannot yet give you a date on when this will arive, although if you would like to mirror the content, please send an email with your details to ([email protected]).

Well thats my posh developer statement out of the way... ill get back to doing what im doing, while you guys think of some names and logos.

To clear up some confusion , the final version will not be named GMessenger, or Nexus, builds are currently called Codename Nexus as a reference, think longhorn.

Thank You.

Dayle Rees.

vb sucks no offence it the crappest lang in the world its toooooo limited if you want a basic lang try gambas.sf.net version 2 is going to have full GTK support so you could make this a multi platform im...

and if you need hosting goto vhcshosting.com register and pm "Hosting Geek" and tell me what you need I'll give you what you want.

edit: no svn allowed as i am already running a cvs server

thanks, loving your sig and AV devin, the AV reminds me of the mac flat screens lol

 Speaking of sigs I really like your signature bt should it be "Coded by Dayle Rees" since GHL made the design it sounds like your taking all the credit :)

Also please keep the name Gmessenger, Google hasn't released news about having a "Gmessenger" so if you come with it first it's not your problem it's Google's problem.
