A beta or test version of Internet Explorer 7 will debut this summer, Microsoft's chairman and chief software architect said in a keynote address at the RSA Conference 2005. The company had said that it would not ship a new IE version before the next major update to Windows, code-named Longhorn, arrives next year.

Do you trust IE7? Will you switch back to IE?

I am always eager to get hold of any new Microsoft product related with my needs.....

anything new from Microsoft is supposedly better than any market equavalent, i feel that way.... maybe Linux and Mac fans will strongly disagree with me, but this is my personal opinion influenced from Microsoft's product launch and subsequent market capture history.....

what do you all think about this aspect??

Probably not. Unless they make some huge rendering engine changes and a completely rethought security system (really in Windows), there's no appeal to it.

I would somewhat disagree. While some people do believe Microsoft products are the best, the real fact is that they only really gain market share from Windows, which was only really bought because it was cheaper than Macintosh when it came out. Now that there truly are better alternatives at comparable prices, individuals may be able to switch, but that still leaves large companies that would have to spend a lot of time and money to completely change their infrastructure.

I always keep going back to IE after using alternatives, simply because I find it fastest compared to others. (with exception of Opera, but I don't like the ad)

Improvement on the IE engine means improvement on Maxthon, so I'm looking forward to this update.

Ill stick with Firefox as it's more customizable, and the rendering engine supports much more than IE's (But IE's is still faster)

I just hope the rendering engine will be upgraded, some people (Mostly rabid MS fan-boys (there's more than one type)) dont want to see it updated to support current standards (which i dont understand why) but i really hope it is, CSS can really do some cool things, and MS seems to ignore that.

:( seems like i just hurt a lot of firefoxians, but the heartning new is that I also use firefox sometimes :)

But if we consider today's browser market, we have to logically speculate that a Company like Microsoft will use breakthrough technologies in IE7 to bring all the browser market share wars at an end and like IE has done in the history, it will again make the other Browsers work hard to keep up with it..

I use Maxthon - which uses the IE engine - and is likely what IE 7 is going to be a about from a front-end view. Tabs, ad and pop-up blockers, skins, that sort of thing.

But I think that the only way IE7 is going to be markedly better than 6 is if they start from scratch and build a new, more secure browser. Given MS's history on such things, that ain't likely to happen, so they'll just buyout someone else's technology/browser and make it their own.

See Antispyware, AV products, WinOS defrag, etc , etc.....

I'm all for new (and cool) web technologies, but if microsoft does introduce any, i want it to be a standard, not a "we are microsoft, so lets throw our weight around and make a new standard" i want them agreed upon by the industry, like XHTML, CSS, XML, etc.

This thread is sad :|

How so? We are just having a discussion about IE7. Please shut up, troll.

Anyway, I can't wait for IE7. I don't really care for the features, but would be nice to see some new features, like a download manager. I do hope they add things like transparent PNG support and better web standard support.

well maybe i dint make my self clear, thats exactly what I was saying, they are gonna buy the best technology or maybe use the best developers and use them to make IE7 a out of reach standard for other Browser developer teams/companies..... thats is their history, and theres no doubt they are gonna repeat the history all over again.

I dont think it is too early for other mainstream browser to start thinking about new versions ;)

Well, i dont want this to sound like a flame, cause it's not.

Unless IE7 is some stella thing, it will most likely be beaten. Their rendering engine has had almost no development work since IE4, and it most likely will be the same with IE7. (which is a bad thing, cause im doing work with web designing at the moment, and i dont want to keep having to change my CSS file to support IE bugs)

Also, unless the development of all other browsers have stalled, there will be new versions.

do you use firefox?? most likely yes.

I must make one thing clear at his point, i am not a supporter of firefox or IE, I only prefer to use the bettter product, that can make my surfing experience better.... and right now I use both simultaneously, Firefox more than IE cos of the tab feature, but IE with SP2 is generally better performer..

I did no mean that new versions wont be there.... but that they must be somewhere near the IE7.

However, if you are aware of marketing (or market grabbing) concepts, you can understand that strategically Microsoft needs to do something to make IE7 a stella which isn't difficult et all for the"paid" developers it employs, cos its already lost a big share to Firefox and Opera like browsers.. and the situation is an all time bad for the present version of IE. Just ask those who are using IE after SP2, they'll tell you that even without a engine update it is a lot better, as I use both simutaneously I can tell you IE is generally the better performer..

Also, an engine update or even a complete redo can not be written off, Just wait and watch......

    • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari). • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
