And the explorer buttons and desktop icons are from the Win2k toolbar aswell?

erm.. probably i didn't explain well (my english sucks, sorry..). i simply used resource hacker to replace the default xp toolbar with the default win2k toolbar. also used resource hacker to get default icons from win2k explorer.exe and replaced xp icons using iphile.

I do not have permission to release a single thing on my desktop so please dont ask. This stuff took a long time to make.

The only thing that seperates my port I guess is the mega 1337 thin taskbar. Thats about it.

I finished my verison and I sent and e-mail to the author and he say this:

Sorry,

I do not want to port my works to the other OS. Therefore I don't permit it.

Thanks,

Im gonna post a screenshot of my latest dtop soon with my version finished :ermm:

Here is the email I just sent him. I hope that he will let me release a port. I know many people got turned down but hopefully this is convincing enough:

Dear Takashi -

Ok I know that you have to be getting sick of this, but I would like to port your themes Makkix and Maggra-X. I know that you are going to be thinking no right now, but please listen. I am a member at www.neowin.net and there are many great skinners and many talented people there. We have been admiring your theme there for a while and I know that you dont want to let it be released for XP and I can clearly understand that. If I made a theme like that I would restrict it too. I respect that, but you need to look at it another way. There have been about 15 ports by 15 people of your theme that have been made by people at Neowin. I am one of them. I am working on one and it looks great so far, and so has KoL who has been turned down. Most of the ports though, including ours, do not really show your expertise at skinning due to the lack of images and the lack of the quality of images. Think about it this way. There are many images of it that are ported to XP, but may look really bad. Anyone can port and many have posted tutorials and everything. Your theme is the most non-permissioned port I have ever seen, so here is what I propose. Let me and KoL do a port of your theme. You can look at our progress and tell us what to change. You could give us the original bitmaps to ensure the best quality possible and your theme would have maintained quality and you would expand your audience and you would have a huge fanbase. The people at Neowin released a port of a theme called Milk that you may have heard of. They didnt have permission. About an hour later, the theme was taken down and the creator was mad. I totally understood that, but then he was given a similiar proposal and he accepted and gave the original bitmaps and it became a huge theme and everyone was happy. This could be the same here. I urge you to agree to this. You would be doing us a favor, but also yourself because your theme would be official and not degraded in quality. Thank you for reading.

    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
