Ok

Well i ordered my laptop at alienware ( Don't bag or comment on what a watse of money it was ) its costing me 7,500$ NZ. Ok, so the guy tells me it will be 14 days before it will arrive.

Ok, so i wait 4 days, no telephone call from them to confirm?

So i ring up and ask when it will arrive....

" Sorry it takes 14 days maximum for our technicians to construct your laptop and it will take approx 2-3 days shipping after the 14 days for it to arrive at your door "

I am really looking forward to getting this laptop, I have never purchased anything over 2,000 before... Of my own money.

I am not happy, with the waiting time to get it. I offered them an extra $100NZ if they will get it to me in 1 week. But no. They want to stubborn.

I asked, how many days it usaully takes for NZ customers to receive there laptops and the sales guy said right up to the maximum - 14 days.

I AM REALLY UNHAPPY!

OOh, I hope you'll be happy with it when it arrives, you'd have to be one of the first people I've heard of in this area (our part of the planet that is) to even order a pc from them. Its a shame that they are going to take so long to do it, but they did tell you how long it takes to be delivered, so you know what to expect.

Hopefully it wont take so long :)

I'm sure Bushrat is actually getting it ordered through Alienware Australia. Anyways, like others have said, it sounds like a reasonable amount of time if it is custom built but I'm not too sure about just ordering a stocked laptop computer. Don't forget they have plenty of other things going on other than just your computer so they tend to span out the building time so they have enough time to do all of the other orders at the same time during the two weeks.

I wouldnt say thats over the top, as others have stated mate its a custom bit of kit.

Ive had alienware stuff appart and it looks like its had some serious time spent on it. I would sit back and look forward to it.

Some of the stuff i do takes 7-10 days to get built & delivered. It all part and parcel of having a custom machine made.

So let's recap, shall we?

a) You ordered an Alienware machine. They generally take more time than other custom PC makers, since they've become the iPod of custom PC manufacturers. I'm not judging them either way, this is simply the reality of the situation.

b) You ordered a laptop. From my (admittedly limited) experience, not as easy to make as a desktop.

c) You're in New Zealand.

About 2 weeks sounds right, all things considered.

$7.5K, wow!! Those specs better be good!!

Different currency dummy...

I had an Alienware. Worst experience of my life. I had 1 when the Antec towers were the bomb. It was nice but 1 of my hard drives went down in it and I had added another drive for RAID. Well, they didn't want to replace my WD with another WD and wanted to give me a Seagate (when Seagates were the worst drive on the market). I fought with them forever untill they gave me another Western Digital.

BTW, their phone support is like in Costa Rica or something. It's a beotch trying to understand them and they'll say their name is Bob. I had called Corporate but never got a call back...

I would never buy from them again....

I don't get why you guys are saying it takes so long because it's custom... It's an Fing LAPTOP.

And they use the Sager shell....

Sager Notebooks

Alienware Notebooks

It's not like somebody is glueing the plastic together. They either throw in more ram or swap hard drives. The only thing that takes some time is the benchmarking and burn-in.

If you don't care about support go Alienware if you do go else where. I'm not going to offer other companies cause it will just get spammed/flammed... There are a lot of other good companies out there besides Alienware.

What I do, is call the company, dial 1 (usually) for sales. If I'm on hold 5-10 minutes to order something, I'm not buying it because if their sales dept. can't get to you that fast then customer service is going to be terrible. Then I will call customer service (tech) and see if I can understand them and then if they even know anything.

Don't just listen to what ppl say on these forums. Do some research for yourself. If the company won't let you talk to anybody in support then they have something to hide, IMO.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
