Yes, you HAVE TO use iTunes. The iPod shuffle uses an standard Lithium Ion battery with 8 hours of battery life.

Actually, I'm getting over 24 hours on a single charge from mine! :o

I usually listen to it at least four hours a day, sometimes as much as eight, and only charge it every 5-7 days. (I've never actually run it down yet)

A friend of mine is getting 19. They really under-estimated it with their 12 hours.

Yeah, my iPod shuffle, which I got maybe the 1st of February has been great battery-wise. I've used it pretty regularly for maybe a half-hour each day walking to class, and I haven't had to charge it ONCE. It's crazy. But it is nice for Apple to be conservative with battery estimates, instead of giving you a battery life that will never happen in the real world.

oh so the battery is rechargable? i thought i had to replace the battery after its dead..

also, what is a EDU discount?

I think he is talking about the education discount, if you are a student you get 10% off any apple product.

http://www.apple.com/store and then click on education on the side of the page. It will ask you for your school. Or if you have an apple store nearby, then you can visit it and show your school ID (online is easier)

The shuffle recharges off POWERED USB 2.0 ports, or the USB AC adapter. If you have a non powered USB 2.0 port or a 1.1 port it will not charge.

From the Apple Store - www.apple.com/store - click the education link on the right - you should be able to pick your school from there.

The Shuffle is only USB - you might want to actually find some information about the Shuffle before you buy one. :p

The Shuffle battery is rechargeaable and lasts (according to Apple) 12 hours.

EDIT: cswadner beat me to it.

The battery its rechargeable. You should read http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle ; it provides a lot of the answers you are looking for ;)

I have the iPod Shuffle 1GB, very light, small and easy to use (you don't even need to look at it to control it). There is no display and I don't need one (I used to have an mp3 cd player with display and I never watched it). The only issue I'm complaining about is when you plug it in to change your library it charges up even if I didn't use half of its charge yet, so I don't know if I will lose battery life with the time.

i have a usb 1.1 port...but i dont know if its powered or not...

ok let me get this straight. the ipod shuffle can charge by usb and a dock?

edit: hmmm...so do i have to buy anything extra to charge the ipod shuffle? i can still charge it with the usb connector right?

edit edit: nooo...is the EDU discount only for college and up? im in high school :(

edit edit edit: no radio?! will there be a plug-in thing to make fm radio available on the ipod shuffle?

Newer batteries (Li-Ion etc) have no "memory" and it's actually recommended to charge them whenever possible, with one full discharge/charge cycle a month.

With these batteries, say you only play for a few hours a day and charge them every night, you might be using only say... 20% of it. It will take five charges like this to count as a full cycle, unlike older batteries where that could count as five.

    • low latency mode is still bugged and causing bootup times slow to a crawl. To fix, you have to disable the feature with vivetool. Seems as though it's not rolled out to a lot of people yet since I've only been able to find only a handful of people that are having issues.
    • I would recommend the Nothing 2a. The battery life is awesome, 2 or 3 days without going into battery power mode. The only thing that I've been looking into recently is that it doesn't "support" Graphene OS. I'm pretty sure there is a way, I just need to do some more looking.
    • You'd have to show me an example of a listing that says Gen 1, usually i'd expect that to mean Snapdragon Gen 1 (a type of chipset, which the Pixels don't use). Pixel 7 - White - 128gb - Unlocked - 85%+ battery - Grade B+ - $159 with free delivery - https://www.ebay.com/itm/398046617206 Pixel 7 - Obsidian - 128gb - Unlocked - 80%+ battery - Very Good - $157 with free delivery - https://www.ebay.com/itm/355617734563 Both look to be sold by companies with good feedback, dealing with refurbished phones and state the phones are unlocked with a clean IMEI. Obviously I can't vouch for either company though, but the listings look good in my opinion.
    • Because Chrome is doing it. And no one said anyone had to update immediately. That's silly. They could update every day for all I care as long as it's fast, and the next time the browser restarts, you're good. And the basic point is not to tee it up for bigger updates. As it is right now, all the windows I had open reopen anyway except inprivate.
    • Why? Does anybody actually want this? The constant need to close all browser sessions and wait for a new version to install, just so that there’s a integrated coupon manager feels like a waste of everyone’s time
