Cherry OS Trial Available!

Question

Well after trying CherryOS for more than 2 hours, I realized how much bug it had and how slow it was.

THat is not what I'd call 80% and I have a really decent computer, aka Athlon XP 3000+, 200 GB HD, 512 MB RAM (okay, that's my pc's weakness, BUT STILL, I find 512 MB of ram great for today's uses), ATI Radeon 9800 pro.

It runs equally as fast or slower than PearPC and sometimes I cannot even start Mac OS X, it says "Error in Profile". No sound support, I don't know how to search in my computer from Mac OS X, etc etc.

Basically... they have MUCH work to do to first get rid of the open-source projects' source codes, to get rid of the bugs and to make it faster.

I don't think we'll see a good CHerryOS before next year, so PearPC is still in the game and it's now or never that they should continue their development.

Competition is always welcomed (even if CherryOS is PearPC... as long as CherryOS will exist, competition will be there)

No, if Apple sues, it's because CherryOS is in breach of OSX's EULA, which specifically states that OSX can only legally be run on Apple hardware (or at least that's what I've been told...sue me if I'm wrong).  CherryOS is like the Napster of the emulation world.

mmm I guess the one who would break OSX's EULA would be the users who installs OSX on a PC, not CherryOS itself. Anyway... P2P apps. are always faulty when their users trade copyrighted things with them... so, yeah, you're right :p

Ok, we have established that many of you think CherryOS is a copy of PearPC under a different interface. Now, can we please get into something else? Like talking about bugs, product updates, specs, speeds, etc, about CherryOS?

I for one, need help. When using CherryOS, I got to the point in the OS X installation where you are asked to select a usable volume to install it too, but am not shown any places to install it (its blank). Why?

Why not talk about "bugs, product updates, specs, speeds, etc," about PearPC? Why talk about a program by a company that totally ripped off an open source project and then charge 50 bucks for it? That is just beyond me. Or did you actually go and buy CherryOS?

Boycott MXS.

I run into the same problem. I just gave up after trying it for about 10 times.

o0.....I think some of you people need to watch a movie called "Anti-Trust"....

Also if I was PearPC since they have been able to prove he stole their code, I would simply see if and what code improvements they have made to it and simply incorporate it into theirs, after all it is THEIR project and ANY modification to THEIR program belongs to them under their GPL I am sure.

Second what kind of court could CherryOS bring PearPC to?

CherryOS: Umm judge they stole our code!

PearPC: We can prove they stole the code from us and our GPL protects us from people like CherryOS

CherryOS: $h!7

585603505[/snapback]

I want to ask exactly the same, I got MacOS 10.4 DVD, and the image, I tried to install but It wont let me. In the FAQ it says it only supports 10.0 - 10.3

I hope they release a new version soon with support for 10.4, I really want to try the MacOS to see what is all about. :)

"The pits in CherryOS"

http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000501.html

-Updated 2005.03.15

"There's been a lot of buzz about Cherry OS lately -- since they started actually selling their product -- but there are some real pits in Cherry OS, and the people behind it (MXS), that aren't getting enough attention.

This isn't about nitpicking marketing claims, we're going to be breaking down some really uncool stuff involving taking GPL-based code from PearPC (among other projects) and completely false performance claims being used to get people to hand over their cash."...

Also, Daniel Foesch, PearPC AltiVec developer, has updated his code to thoroughly trounce any speed claim made by CherryOS .

Daniel also interviewed CherryOS "programmer" Arben Kryeziu by phone (prepare to amazed at how blatant this company is) :

    • Microsoft admits one of the most crucial Outlook features is currently broken by Sayan Sen Microsoft is making some decent progress when it comes to Windows 11. Recently we have confirmed reports of some rather useful improvements landing in the next version of the OS, 26H2, wherein GPU driver TDR crashes may finally be fixed, plus the company is also allowing users to disable web content on the Search. On the Outlook front though things have not been so rosy. Last month in May we reported several problems affecting basic functionalities on the app. These included a problem where documents would open blank or corrupt themselves. Following that, Quick Steps, a very useful feature, would no longer work correctly, and finally, Microsoft acknowledged a problem wherein images would fail to load up properly inside the email. Microsoft had resolved those bugs later and almost exactly a month after we reported on them, the company has now admitted a new similarly basic issue, this time on Macs. Users recently started noticing that Outlook would no longer display email threads properly as the original message itself was not displayed. An affected user Tsoumpas, C (ngmb) nicely described the problem in a forum post they made on Microsoft's site. They wrote: "Description of the issue: After updating Outlook for Mac [Version 16.110 (26061317)] on 18/6/2026, replying to any email no longer includes the original message in the reply window. Prior to the update, replies correctly contained the original email text below my response. Expected behavior: The original message should be included in the reply, as in previous Outlook versions and according to the configured reply settings. Actual behavior: The reply window contains only a blank composition area (or only my response), with none of the original email text included." Obviously this must be a highly frustrating for users as noted by several in that thread. The post, at the time of writing, has also been upvoted by more than 40 users indicating that is a fairly widespread bug. Thankfully Microsoft seems to have acknowledged the problem right around that time as it opened a new issue on its official website. In the support article, the company recommends switching to Outlook for Mac from the legacy app, where the problem appears to be happening.
