I've been experiencing this problem with windows when I reboot my computer after installing XPize, I think this is why shell32.dll changes its icons.  Should I  turn off windows update and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Here's a pic and a link to the problem.

Hey Dave, there is a an update feature in XPize that is designed to specfically repair any files that have been replaced by Windows Update. Simply go to the Start Menu -> All Programs -> XPize and run the XPize Updater. It will re-patch your current system files, so that you keep all of your updates but those files contain the XPize resources again.

Did we ever figure out why it doesn't work with Windows Server 2003? I've tried it on several computers, and it installs properly, but windows updates and various other software fails to install (it complains that shell32.dll has been relocated in memory)...

Not yet, I'll look into it though. I have a feeling it's due to SP1 RC1 or whatever, because I'm pretty sure XPize v2.5 worked on Server 2003 without it. I'll setup a test machine with Server 2003 with and without SP1, and see what I can find.

It won't be right away, but I'll make a note, hopefully I can figure out what's going on.

This is not with RC1 installed...it doesn't work AT ALL with RC1 installed...

this is with a bare install of Windows Server 2003.

Does this mean that while we are using XPize we cannot have a fully updated windows - and will be open to hacker attacks and the like.

Or does the patcher, patch the files.

Will it keep giving me this windows update message every time I have repaired the files using XPize.

All the XPize installor does is replace the system resource not files. So that why it usually works on different bases, XP home, XP pro, Media Center, etc....

So you can have an upto date computer and have the xpize look

I would love the start button to be like some of the other Royale's and make it say "start" and not just the windows logo..

If anyone can tell me if I can change that, I'll download it :p

In the Skins section of the installer, select only Royale (and not Royale Lite), or select none of them and apply your favourite style.

i was going to mirror this but never got notice to do so...
