i had to edit the new version, but i am very very happy with this theme. it's my favorite.

jawsh: how are you liking OS X?

i've always enjoyed Mac OS, and OS X is no different. i did that 10.2.8 update and my Mac's still chuggin right along, so i guess i was one of the fortunate ones not affected by it. i still remember having to boot off a 5 1/4" floppy back in the II GS days, up through my door-stop of a PowerBook 140 running System 7...Apple's come a long, long way! :)

OT....How is the quality on MyTV2Go? I've been looking for a tv solution on the Macintosh, but haven't been satisfied by the quality out there.

Since this is my first TV on a puter application I'd say its flawless. The image is crisp but degreades at higher resolutions although I haven't played with the settings at all. Records as well. Should I be able to get it at full screen?

Since this is my first TV on a puter application I'd say its flawless. The image is crisp but degreades at higher resolutions although I haven't played with the settings at all. Records as well. Should I be able to get it at full screen?

When I had a TV card, the best that I could get at a 'crisp' picture was 800x600 px. I am pretty sure that is about the highest it goes because you are taking an analog signal and watching it on a digital machine. Even if you have digital cable or satelite, the signal will still probably be bad because they compress it so that things are faster on your end. I believe the only way to get full screen TV with a computer that is purely crisp is if the signal itself is that good and maybe if there is some kind of HDTV coming through or something. I know I see a lot of shows lately that advertise they are being broadcase in HDTV, so you might try one of those.

Good info guys. I've never owned a tv tuner for the Macintosh, just for pc....and it was about 5 years ago.

They make hdtv tuners for Macs?!?

Some of the 42" and 60" plasma tvs i've been looking at have DVI input and support full HDTV resolution for use as a computer display (~1900x1000). DVI is a digital signal and the plasma tvs are digital display units so it should look really good.

SVideo, and composite video out both look dreadful for a number of reasons: the biggest contributor being the rather crumby resolution of most TVs with those inputs. My 50" projection tv only has ~800 lines of resolution and that's considered good!

Buying a new TV just so video out looks good might not be an option now, but when you go to buy a new monitor or new television then looking at some of the LCD and plasma telivisions might pay off.

      Nothing is stopping you from continuing with your testing cadence. If updates are released every 2 weeks instead of 4, and you test once every 4 weeks, the exact same amount of patches will still be available for you in those 4 weeks. For example: Before 4th week - patch 1, 2, 3, 4 After 2nd week - patch 1 and 2 4th week - patch 3 and 4 Still the same amount after 4.

      Everyone else has said it. I'm gonna say it - you don't know what you're talking about. I do. I have two laptops. One work, one personal. I have access to two more laptops - both personal. At home I manually update my personal laptop when I see on Neowin that there is an update - I carry on and only apply the updates when I am ready. My work one only updates when my workplace decides to send it - I carry on and only apply the updates (when they actually arrive, which is usually days after the release) when I switch off the laptop at the end of the day as usual. The two other personal laptops only get updated when I get to it which is rarely - the people who own them carry on using them until I get to it and update them. All of the browsers on all laptops are configured to restore the tabs when launched. Google and Microsoft have changed from 6 weeks to 4, and it looks like it's going to move to 2. None of these changes affect how any of these browsers on the laptops are used. Not one jot. My advice to you is stop panicking whenever you see an update. Just carry on with what you're doing. This even benefits you in a way - from your comment you sound like you don't like the changes or the frivolous new features - great - then carry on as before!
