perfect disk.

The smart placement defrag is awesome, and the offline defrag is the tops :p

It might be a little slow, but I can't tell because I defrag while I sleep.

Offline defrag does the pagefile and all that stuff that you cant do while in windows.

I can alos defrag all my network computers from my main one with perfect disk.

The only problem is the price.

now that o&o has simplified their offline/boot options, i think it has firmly locked itself in the #1 spot for me.

i've used them all. perfectdisk, diskeeper, voptxp, o&o, norton, even the one that comes with sysmechanic... and in the end, o&o always wins.

the only one that comes close is perfectdisk. it's fast, easy to use and thorough... but not quite thorough enough. running the newest o&o after a pdisk defrag still found fragmented files (and yes, o&o was installed before the defrag - i'm not stupid) all over the place.

diskeeper is about as thorough as barry bonds is steroid-free. sure, i guess it's enough to suit some people, but anyone who really cares is going to go for something more.

i think everyone who's voted for diskeeper should really try the new o&o v8 trial, just once, and see the difference for yourself.

O&O Defrag, did a good job, in comparison with diskkeeper its alot better for me, its defragged a prtition alot faster and more effcient than diskkeeper for me, and i did check using Diskkeeper and its show that there is no fragmintation even if i was doing defrag using diskkeeper then i anaylize and its find its still need to defrag, im not sure if O&O is better then Perfect disk or not but i think it is

In my view you should not need to defrag your C drive. You should only have a the operating system on that partition and all appz and games on other partitions. Do a disk clean up regularly and there should be no problems. My system is running this way and my C drive is only at 3% fragmentation after 4 months usage.

Its also worth defragging your boot files with tune xp

after initial installation of operating system.

Hi , I use perfectdisk , But why is perfectdisk second choice?  There is a comparison chart on raxco`s site: http://www.raxco.com/products/perfectdisk2...rmance_Test.pdf

Wow, I knew that when I switched from Diskeeper to Perfcet Disk that there was something that was better. Just couldn't put my finger on it.

    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
