hi, can someone plz explain to me why u all voted for diskeeper ?????

it's just the most popular choice, it has a similar interface to the one in xp. but it's not better imo. it simply doesn't do as good a job in defragging as perfectdisk does.

Because that's what the majority of the users who have voted so far use and like the most. If you don't understand that then something is wrong with you

Insanekiwi - I have PerfectDisk and Kerio Personal Firewall and it doesn't BSOD me.

I used both PerfectDisk, Diskeeper and O&O Defrag and I would have to say PerfectDisk. O&O Defrag comes a really close second.

O&O defrag has a better interface but I felt a slightly bigger performance jump with PerfectDisk.

The issue with Kerio is with older versions of Kerio Personal Firewall. The driver fwdrv.sys has a bug in it that causes Windows to crash when PerfectDisk is run. With the newer versions of Kerio Personal Firewall, the bug in this driver has been fixed.

Note that INVISUS PC Security Solution has licensed an older version of Kerio Personal Firewall that includes the buggy fwdrv.sys driver. Thus, Invisus will also cause Windows to crash when PerfectDisk is run.

I've also used both these programs exclusively over the years. The latest has been Perfect Disk as I set it up for a daily defrag. The problem I ran into with Diskeeper and the "set it and forget it" function that was ETREMELY frustrating was when it would kick on to defrag when I was burning a CD or DVD. I sent this bug into Diskeeper. Maybe this function has been worked out in version 10.
