what does your Mp3 player say about you ?

Recommended Posts

We've seen it with cars. pets, etc but how about Mp3 players ?

Presumably part of why we've chosen a particular model is based on how it looks, the image (we think) it projects, etc.

I have a silver Creative Zen Micro = no issues about size (LOL), not mainstream (ie. not an Ipod). Silver probably suggests I'm not adventurous, conventional.

What do you think your Mp3 player says about you ?

iPod, I bought it over other players because I liked its simple look I wanted an iPod from the original 1st gen before they were mainstream but they were quite expensive so I bought crappy flash players with only 32MB memory until finally plumbing down the cash on a 3rd Gen iPod.

I could not be happier with my iPod. I love it to bits. That's right I love an inanimate object.

I think the content says a lot more than the container

i would have to agree with that.

i have a 3g ipod, but i got it when it first came out and there weren't many other options. i'd probably take an iriver now.

I don't have an MP3 player yet, still waiting for my MiniDisc player to die (been dropping it on *accident* more often), but when I get a new portable music player it will be the RIO Karma 20GB.

Not sure what it will say about me, but if doesn't keep it's mouth shut I'll make sure it has the same fate as my MiniDisc player.

my new 4G iPod says that I should listen to it more, instead of working.

...but anyway. I got an iPod because I like the look, but above all else it is functional. I use xmms/Winamp because it plays my music, and my music only. That's it, by default.

Same with the iPod. It plays music, and that's it... other features are just bonuses, not "features".

Functionality is the key.

yes, yes, yes...granted.

Unfortunately, some of us are a leeetle moooreee shallloooow than that. :pinch:

Is 'it's not mainstream' a selling point? or a point you are trying to make? I am sure they are people out they who buy iPods just because 'they are cool', or avoid them cause they think by being different they are '1337'. I personally think its just as sad as saying I got a Mac just to be different/I just got a PC because everyone has one.

Its annoying however, to just assume what people are like just because they have an iPod or an iRiver. There are people I know that have iRivers who have Macs, and a friend of mine who loves Microsoft's software, who knew very well that others plays had more features, still went with an iPod, and its not because 'they are cool'. I the stereotypical view taken on someone because they have a particular thing.

As someone has already said before, I think its what's inside that iRiver, iPod, Zen, Zen micro, Mini that counts. 'Its the music, Stupid'.

Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways, Dad.

On reflection, it's so obvious, it is the music after all. You're right, I'm wrong. I'm contrite, I need redemption, ....oh and a thermos flask and I'll be spending the rest of my life reading Sophocles.

Maybe I could of reword it better so it doesn't sound if I am aiming directly at you. Sorry. What I meant was some people do take a wrong impression of a person just because they have a specific MP3 player. ;)

As for the line, 'Its the music, stupid', it was a quote, hence the quotation marks. It wasn't aimed at you and wasn't meant to be offensive. Steve Jobs said that to the media when they seemed to loose focus on what the iPod was heading. Comes from Bill Clintons 'Its the economy, stupid' comment. ;)

Peace. :)

Blue iPod mini, 6GB. I've barely used it since I got it like the silver iPod mini I had before, yet I carry it with me everywhere. I've used it maybe 4 or 5 times. The fact that I haven't used it much doesn't mean I didn't like it though, I love my iPod to death.

I guess it just says that no matter what Apple tries to sell, I will buy it. :p

iriver ifp-180T

says i dont like getting ripped off, am an early adopter, dont like getting tied down to propriety formats/software, and enjoy having better sound quality than everyone else.

Dell axim x30 pocketpc

says i need something to do with all my spare SD cards, says i want something more than solitaire on my mp3 player, says im a geek.

Creative Nomad Jukebox2 10GB

Means I don't feel like spendning $300 for a next gen player (ipod, iriver, zen micro) because what is most important is that I have a portable music player that can hold at least my 8 GB of music. And since I have that, who cares what brand it is?

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two. Poll Poll: How much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost? $59.99 $69.99 $79.99 $89.99 $100 or more Submit Vote If you have a very specific prediction in mind, sound off in the comments below.
