any program to test if ram is bad?

my friends computer keeps restarting so we thought it was a virus and reformatted but we had so many problems reinstalling it because certain files wouldn't copy. then we somehow managed and it still restarts and has problems. he says that he recently swapped ram with someone and i think that's the problem. is there a program out there that tests it? does anyone else have experience with this kind of problem?

You can download it and burn it to a CD and boot from it.

Another good one is Prime95. Use the Blend Test to torture the RAM.

I think MS also have a memory testing tool.

Yeh memtest is the best, leave it to do 1 run takes about 30 mins, thats if you dont have the time. Leave it on all night if you do have time!!
