Novell Linux Desktop 10?

Recommended Posts

Their version 10 is still SUSE. It is Novell/Suse. Their claim of "surpassing Windows" refers to the features it is slated to include.

Novell is pulling themselves out of a slump here, and seems to be charged and ready to fully embrace Linux for the future.

This news article seems to show that they can excel and surpass their Linux goals (at least internally):

Hmmm ok im confused now. Because at the mo, Novell have a seperate product from suse called Novell Desktop Linux 9 or something like that. So is the 10 release going to be Desktop Linux 10, or SUSE 10.0? If so thats a way off, still a few weeks away untill 9.3 is released.

Novell Linux Desktop (NLD) is powered by SUSE Linux. NLD is the corporate Linux Desktop edition as SUSE Linux is designed more for the home.

So to answer your question: Novell plans to release SUSE Linux Professional 10 and Novell Linux Desktop 10 at some point in the future. Does that clear it up for you?

Novell has a good chance of creating something big here, which is good. Suse/Novell Linux distros are confusing to me aswell (I know there are 2 distros), they should just focus on one product IMHO and make "premium" and "enterprise" packages or something like that. But I personaly can't wait for NLD 10, which could include XGL and other goodies...they have good developers working in their team and they are a company with "the name" so unless they start messing aroung, they can become a big player and make Linux even more popular (just like Ubuntu is doing atm).
