Acura TL A-Spec or Infinity G35?

Recommended Posts

i like G35 way better. though TL is nice too.

i'd go for the sporty rwd g35.

new A4 are good,

but i think they are way too expensive.

btw, i just saw the video of new a4 - they are great! much better then on pics.

i think they managed to pull off a sleeker modern look without going over the top like the 3 series. looks classy imo. but for comparable awd/quattro configuration, Audi run arounf 6 to 10 grand more expensive.

I'm partial to the '05 TL but I own one.  :)  G35 is probably sportier, but it just looks ugly... Prefer the Z over the G35 for looks.

G35 is awesome while the TL looks boring IMHO. They brought in a complete new look with the G35, FX45 etc., TL is just a elongated TSX in terms of looks.

This question comes down to whether or not you are comparing the TL to the 4 door G35, or to the G35 coupe.

If you are comparing the TL to the G35 coupe, then you are looking for a more sporty car and you should go with the G35 for the added performance and rear wheel drive and more aggressive styling.

However if you are comparing to TL to the G35 Sedan, then the Acura wins hands down. The TL looks nicer than the G35 sedan inside and out, has more toys, the legendary navigation system, costs less, and will win the reliability battle.

G35: 6 speed. coupe. Nissan knows what they are doing. plus if you are into aftermarket stuff... Nismo has some really good stuff for the 350z/g35.

as much as i like the TL, i don't like the way it handles. my friends dad's older cl handles the same way, decently well but too much body roll.

Anyway, you can't talk about reliability and then bring up an Audi.  German cars cars, specifically VWs which Audis are based off of, are among the least reliable cars in the world.

Actually, Consumer Reports says that Audi is the most reliable European manufacturer. Despite their parent company being the VW Group, no Audis except the A3 are currently based on VW platforms. You wouldn't say Bentleys or Lambos are "affordable, fun daily drivers" just because VW owns them.

Audi and BMW are reknowned for impeccable attention to detail and exemplary build quality in their vehicles.

You pay a price for that quality (in $$), and that means maintenance is more expensive as well. So when something does go wrong, while rare, it is fairly expensive.

However, an Audi 1.8T or 4.2L engine will basically run forever.

I don't know why people compare TL against G35 Coupe. Even with that comparison, TL stands firm with handling as well. Given, it's not as great as G35 coupe, but again G35 coupe is a real sport car with very little space and much cheaper interior. Also, TL's looks is way above G35s. If you've driven G35 sedan you would realize how much better TL really is. Too bad they don't make TL in coupe variation. I guarantee that the coupe version would be on par with G35 coupe. Another thing to understand, with TL you get EVERYTHING standard + 0-60 in 6secs. What's G35 coupe 0-60 time? I think it's around there. As someone else mentioned here, TL gives you everything + luxury and technology. I'm sorry but G35 just feels way too cheap and plastic inside.

I'm actually waiting for my 6spd TL and before I decided on TL I test drove all of the cars, including M35, all Infiniti models, BMWs, Audis and Lexus. Infiniti M even with all the luxury is extremely slow. Just wanted to point that out. It wasn't meant to be a sports sedan and it shows. It does look magnificent inside though.

Also, TL as I'm going to do it, looks better then anything I've seen on the market today. Just look at what my TL will look like:

Also, TL as I'm going to do it, looks better then anything I've seen on the market today. Just look at what my TL will look like:

WOW MAN!! this is sexy.

i like TL as well, but i always though G35 looks nicer. however from what i hear interiour in TL is nicer and its more spacious.

how much did you spend on modding the TL to look like that?

i am thinking i would do something similar is i got it.

btw, g35 being read wheel drive is the only major reason i liked it more.

Tough choice. These are my two favorite cars on the market right now. I think the styling on both of them are amazing. Why do people keep saying "it's still a nissan" like it's a bad thing??? Nissan IMO has some of the best styling on cars right now. In their price range of course and from my understanding nissans are reliable. I would say this has to be a personal decision you have to test drive both of them then make your choice... get a feel for the car. Any information you get from this forum will probably be bias... look up some consumer reports, test drive, and try to find a really good deal.

if you want build quality, toys, room (and lots of it), and pretty decent power and handling then get the tl... if you want good reliability, better power and handling then get the g35... if you want a compromise, get a 3-series bmw... i have both an acura integra and a bmw 330ci, i love the acura, but the 3-series is just soo much fun ;)

G35 in black on black with 6spd manual with premium suspension and aero kit. :)

I also like the TL. If it was me it would come down to driving them. I'd probably get the TL over a G sedan unless I needed awd. However if the TL has bad torque steer that woudl turn me off on it completely. I suspect it may from the power it puts out. Also remember that it will likely get worse when it's older.

btw those pics of the G35 earlier in the thread some of them have turbochargers. :) There's not a Nissan supported kit yet is there?

That could be an insane car. The 3.5 L should be capable of ~350-400 tq/hp running moderate boost. Not sure how much the cars fuel system could handle though.

Got 2005 TL A-spec 6MT - looked carefully at both cars - both really great buys, and would do well with either.

First off is Torque Steer, not as bad as people say -- also getting the A-Spec further reduces this.

0-60 in 5.7 according to Motor Trend -- much better than G35.

Interior - no comparison, makes G35 look like a Ford, also bluetooth and DVD audio are great.

Looks - G35 looks great head on and side, just think rear looks bad - matter of personal taste.

SO would do well with either one, but I am keeping the A-spec, afterall a G35 looks good from the front, and that is what I will see from my Rear view mirror.

I don't know who said it, but I was reading through the thread and saw that someone mentioned "cheap plastic" on the Infiniti. I have a good friend with a 2003 G35 coupe, and will tell you from experience that nothing about the G looks or feels "cheap." It is a high quality luxury sports car, and is one of my favorites, as well. I personally would recommend it- the only problem my friend has had with it was the throttle body, but it was under warranty, so it was repaired free of charge. The car is a lot of fun to drive, with very good response time- step on the gas and feel the car jump. It is also comfortable and solid at high speeds. The only caution I have is driving in the rain, especially with the traction control system disengaged. The car spins the wheels easily. The available Bose audio system kicks hard for a stock system. The G itself also sounds great, even with the stock exhaust- a deep rumble at rest and and a throaty roar as the revs increase. The car also handles surprisingly well for a car of it's weight. There is little body roll, and the TCS ensures that the tires maintain traction... if you want them to. However, with a little skill, you can force the car into an impressive powerslide, fishtailing out the rear. Let off the gas so the tires regain traction, and you're off and running. My verdict? The G35 is a great car to drive, and well worth the cost.

Aparrently, Car and driver thinks that too. Check out This Comparo, pages 7 and 8. the TL (admittedly not the A-Spec) versus the G35 (sedan). One more point is that the G35 is Rear wheel drive (available AWD), while the TL is FWD. Depending on which you prefer, that might sway your opinion, too.

Finally, for the record, someone mentioned that the Infiniti was "still a Nissan." That person seems to forget to mention that the Acura is "still a Honda." Just had to get that off my chest.

    • I've always preferred this possibility. There is something that feels good about the idea that all matter in the universe will eventually come back together and maybe even result in another big bang. The idea that the universe would fizzle out over the eons and forever drift apart is a little depressing. I realize it is not logical to let a basic human desire for life to have a grand everlasting meaning change the way I feel about a scientific theory, but I am human, so that is how I feel :-).
    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer.
