PSP Dead/Stuck Pixels!

Recommended Posts

We had about 20 returned from the 81 we sold at my job yesterday. Everything from dead pixels to units being DOA. I'm def waiting for the price to go down and the build quality to get higher before considering one. Sony had the same initial manufacturing problems with the PSone and the PStwo when they came out. I expected exactly the same from the PSP..

Your telling me that everything has to be perfect?

Thats an INSANE request. What about LCD computer screens?

So, it is insane that Nintendo will replace the DS if it has even just one dead pixel? The screen is pretty small on them, much easier to get them dead pixel free than a large screen like a 15"+ LCD's, especially high resolution ones where there is a millions of pixels on the screen possibly. I may get a PSP down the road, but not until the price comes down, and at least 2-3 revisions of hardware as well.

DS uses different screens. Touch screens have different technology in LCDs

ok, i wonder if i can take pics of what i have. need to get my macro lenses set up :p

but i have 2 different things on my screen, and i don't know which is which.

first of all, i work for an LCD tv company. when we get stuck pixels on our tvs, they are pretty big and bright.

the things on my psp are so tiny, like smaller than the tip of a pin. i need to have a solid background, be like less than 1ft away, and then move the screen so i can catch them in the reflection. but it's def. something in/under the screen.

That's what I have Brochaos, except the dirt under the screen shows up from further too.

The best way for looking for stuck pixels is when your psp is shutting down/saving to the memory stick and the screen is black but still on. The game startup screen/wipeout pure intro is good for looking for dead pixels.

BroChaos, try playing in the dark and see if the stuck pixels are brighter. For me my stuck pixel is kinda bad at night but mostly fine during the day.

It's unacceptable to have a dead pixel on a computer screen too. You should always look before you buy, or make sure you can return it if you buy it online. Dead pixels are completely unacceptable. I love seeing the open box returned sony grand wegas in stores that have a big old stuck pixel on the screen, hehe. Are you saying those people should have accepted the dead or stuck pixel on their 3000 dollar tv rather than returning it for a new one? Well, if you would then atleast that keeps the rest of us safe from having to buy and return it :).

so you keep returning? That's why I would get it at BB, where I work, even if I get no discount on it. 30 days to return the mofo as many times as you need till you get one that Sony got right.

Damn right bangbang... I bought mine at BB yesterday and it had 5+ dead pixels. Exchanged it later in the day. They had a manager come over and make sure it really had dead pixels (kinda ****ed me off the way he was questioning it, like it was such a rare occurrence... just wait hahahaha!).

There is no way on earth that anyone should accept even one dead pixel from a BRAND NEW device. It just isn't acceptable, and don't let anyone at any store tell you otherwise!
