I figure we all need to know what glitchs are out there and what to expect, so here we go. I'd like to note the PSP has been underclocked from the previous stats of 333mhz down to 233mhz and bus speed is 111 from 166mhz from what I hear and that new firmware updates my fully enable it later(at cost of battery life no doubt).

So far I have had an issue that occured while it is charging that I was not able to turn the PSP off during a game and back on because shortly after it resumes the game in like 1 second it will shut back off. Doesn't seem normal. Also in Need For Speed UR I jumped a boundary on one of the tracks and feel into nothingness btw.

The psp is still able to tun at 333mhz in fact i think it still is running at that. Look at the specs on the sony site.

Never heard of that issue...But i can see what your saying.

Blame EA not sony.

i dont know why sony has such a hard time getting it hard the first time, look at the ps1 and ps2, the first few revisions were plagued with problems.

i'm thinking of getting one when:

-the price goes down a bit

-they fix all the bugs in the hardware

the more complex a system more chances of small problems, if everygame was perfect then would updates be needed (speaking of PC games) :pinch:

Xbox had problems when if first came out also (when is there handheld coming out, gota be in the works knowing how MS works)

ps2 versions 1-4 had laser problems, v5 was just right and fixed the laser issue and then it seemed like everything after 5 had no purpose except maybe to thwart piracy but chip makers will just find another way to fix their chips so doing that was pretty much in vain. Well there was that last remote model after 5 that made sense.

I know that they should do all the things that Rudy said but they are a company that has no time to do these things because they make everything and they don't have time to check over everything because they have to ship them they have to make them for coustemer demands, and they akso have to sell them. Thats alot of work compared to what you guys are saying! Also they can make the price lower! That they can!

one of my friends that bought a PSP yesterday before me can not read Metal Gear Acid at all. I have not been able to test that gmae mine as of yet and I also bought my psp from a different store(from the same store that my other friend who bought MSA could read it just fine on his PSP). I can't see them having more than one version out so far in the US so maybe it is just a defect that just effects his and maybe a few other small percentage of people.

Does the PSP have the ability to clock itself down when not in use? I know that they can turn off 1 processor but clocking it self down by changing the bus speed?  or can a processor only clock down itself down with it's multiplier?

The PSP can run from 1-333MHz, however most developers consider 222MHz to be the magic number as it ensures a good level of graphical quality without sacrificing too much battery life. Maybe later on SONY will release a more powerful battery and developers will make full use of the processor and we can see far more graphicaly impressive games.

    • Yes for me, I installed 'old calculator' (Windows 7 calculator) in its place since it is more useful to me. I think paint is the only one I left installed
    • eh I'll wait for the June 2026 MVS ISO downloads which should be coming out next Tuesday June 16 and possibly contain build 8655 instead of 8653

    • Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 PC case is now 33% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 is currently $109.99 on Amazon, down from its original $164.99 list price. That's 33% off and $55 saved on this premium aluminum mid-tower case with a modular design. If you're upgrading your PC case and want something that doesn't force you into a rigid layout, the MasterFrame 600 is worth a look. The case is built around the Cooler Master's FreeForm 2.0 platform, which lets you reconfigure the internal structure according to your hardware. Magnetic side panels allow for straightforward adjustments, and the case supports everything from Mini-ITX to E-ATX motherboards without compromise. There's also generous cooling headroom. Four pre-installed PWM fans handle airflow out of the box. GPU clearance goes up to 410mm, and the case supports radiators up to 420mm with room for three simultaneously. Truth be told, this might not be the prettiest case on the market, but it’s highly functional. The aluminum construction keeps the whole thing lightweight despite its size, and the finish looks noticeably better than the plastic mid-towers competing at this price point. If you want a serious, flexible case that prioritizes function over flashy aesthetics like RGB lighting, the MasterFrame 600 delivers at a reasonable price.
