PSP: How many pixel anomalies

Recommended Posts

Have you guys even considered that the quote in the psp manual might pretain to after a few months you get a dead pixel. I mean im not OMG i have a dead pixel boy over here although i think if there is a considerable amount of people out of the 1mil that were shipped who have dead pixels it might be a problem.

Oh yeah for all of you who want to test, just load them up on the psp.

that is dedication ;)

I don't get why people wouldn't want a return for like 6 pixels...

You paid full, why should you have to suffer?

i returned mine to best buy and it seems i'm worse off, so i'll get another exchange when they get the next shipment (i got the last one for my exchange), anyways now i've got two stuck pixels (at least they're almost right on the edge now) and one pixel that is just a bit dimmer than the rest (on all colors)

thats the thing, i think if i exhchange mine now, i will have the same problems. all of my friends who got one (4) had the same problem.

did you give teh spidy 2 back? although it prolly didn't matter because you got another one.

here are pics i posted on the official thread:

I think this topic would make a good poll.  Definately be interesting to see all these statistics compiled in one place.

polls i've seen on psp specific sites lead me to believe that only 60% of psp's are pixel anomaly free, about 20% have 1-2 pixel problems, and the remaining percentage have 3+ bad pixels, the good news is that despite all these problems sony seems to be replacing them (you have to push them, they won't volunteer this) and most stores are pretty good about exchanging them, i bought the best buy protection plan so i luckily get unlimited exchanges for the next two years (i love the psp, but i'm also OCC so i notice every defect in things)

At the best buy I work at, we had 36 returns on 120 sales - the day after -  because of dead pixels.

that's roughly 25% in 1/30 of the return time, not a particularly optimistic percentage, i severly hope this is a issue that is fixed fast, this handheld has the ponential to do what no one else has (take on nintendo in the handheld market), but without good quality control it's going to hard to keep customers and get more of them

    • And none of them have a "notchless" 3:2 OLED screen, for which I was always willing to pay more.
