iverson0881
Okay So here I am cleaning permanant marker writing a CD cuz I messed up using Nail polisher remover. I was cleaning them on marble and well nail polish and the ink merged together and got on the surface and dried up. Water isn't removing it. What I'm doing now is leaving the nail polish and let it settle in and then wipe it off and it seems ot be working but I don't know. Please help me on getting permanent ink (sharpie) off my marble! [LOF]skinnylegs
You might want to try a citrus based cleaning agent like De-Solv-It which you can find at Home Depot, Lowes and many grocery stores. ssvegeta384
instead of wiping the polish remover, try scrubbing it with a sponge or something. if not, try what skinnylegs said and get some orange-clean or something cirtusy...yeah, that's a word Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/301403-oh-noes-permanent-ink-on-marble/#findComment-585678225 Share on other sites
Rudy
make sure you use something mild because you dont want to damage the marble  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/301403-oh-noes-permanent-ink-on-marble/#findComment-585678269 Share on other sites

Rudy
i'd say go somewhere where they sell marble and ask them what you should do Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/301403-oh-noes-permanent-ink-on-marble/#findComment-585678314 Share on other sites
iverson0881
I'll probably pop into Home Depot tomorrow and ask them what I should do. I got most of it off by letting the nail polish sit for 2mins and then wipe. But I want to get it off probably and safely and I'm not sure if that was a safe route. Quickstrike
Don't know if it will take out a permanent marker, but Don Aslett "America's #1 Cleaning Expert" says the following: "How do you get water rings or stains out of a marble coffee table? Try cleaning the spots with vinegar. It's nature's acid and shouldn't harm the marble." maplecookie Veteran Posted March 27, 2005 Veteran Share Posted March 27, 2005 no no no no no! Do NOT use rubbing alcohol!!! This is marble and it's incredibly sensitive! Only use a mild (very mild) detergent or soap. Not lemon juice, not citrus, and not nail polish remover!!! Using those items can actually eat away at the marble! On Monday, call a professional. Someone who sells or installs marble into homes. Ask them if they have any special cleaning solution that you can purchase or ask them what you can use from home. Zip
try rubbing over the area with a dry-wipe marker for white boards then wiping off. usually works getting off permanent marker. olaf
I don't take any credit if this doesn't work, but coloring over it with fresh permanent marker and then wiping off the whole sha-bang usually removed the old stuff, too, whenever I had permanent marker on something. MattL
Brasso will get permant marker off most surfaces as long as they are like that not card, brick etc. It works a treat on plastics, glass etc. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/301403-oh-noes-permanent-ink-on-marble/#findComment-585681728 Share on other sites

Next time, try wiping off the whole 'sha-bang' without the added marker, and it might just remove that bit easier! You draw over it with permanent marker that IS fresh, and can be wiped off, and it should take the old marker underneath with it. Seriously, try it.
