Oh Noes Permanent Ink On Marble!

Recommended Posts

Okay So here I am cleaning permanant marker writing a CD cuz I messed up using Nail polisher remover. I was cleaning them on marble and well nail polish and the ink merged together and got on the surface and dried up. Water isn't removing it. What I'm doing now is leaving the nail polish and let it settle in and then wipe it off and it seems ot be working but I don't know.

Please help me on getting permanent ink (sharpie) off my marble!

HELP!

Don't know if it will take out a permanent marker, but Don Aslett "America's #1 Cleaning Expert" says the following:

"How do you get water rings or stains out of a marble coffee table?

Try cleaning the spots with vinegar. It's nature's acid and shouldn't harm the marble."

no no no no no! Do NOT use rubbing alcohol!!!

This is marble and it's incredibly sensitive!

Only use a mild (very mild) detergent or soap. Not lemon juice, not citrus, and not nail polish remover!!! Using those items can actually eat away at the marble!

On Monday, call a professional. Someone who sells or installs marble into homes. Ask them if they have any special cleaning solution that you can purchase or ask them what you can use from home.

I don't take any credit if this doesn't work, but coloring over it with fresh permanent marker and then wiping off the whole sha-bang usually removed the old stuff, too, whenever I had permanent marker on something.

 That's just making twice the work. Next time, try wiping off the whole 'sha-bang' without the added marker, and it might just remove that bit easier!

Jebus Christ.

:/ Of course I'm referring to marker that's been there awhile, and hence isn't fresh and easily wipeable by itself.

You draw over it with permanent marker that IS fresh, and can be wiped off, and it should take the old marker underneath with it.

Seriously, try it.
