OPaul
Don't think Opera is supported. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/302639-quicktime-alternative-doesnt-work-with-opera8-b3/#findComment-585695264 Share on other sites
rbet
I think it is... when we install, we see an option for plugin for mozilla/netscape/opera... also, when installing, if the opera window is open, it tells us to close the window before continuing the installation. bfoos
You probably won't get much support here for quicktime alternative. It's been deemed warez around here. rbet
hmm... mods may lock/delete if this thread is unsuitable. I hope someone slips a solution in before (if) locking, hehe! HoochieMamma
Strange, have you tried copying over the plug-ins folder from the quicktime folder to the Opera folder? rbet
yeah tried it just now... no go. Winamp starts as usual. edit: got it to work... just had to 'tell' opera to use the plugin for the extensions mp3, etc. you can do this from advanced preferences. insanekiwi
yes use quicktime. codec alternatives and codec packs are illegal and not allowed to be discussed on neowin. Shetland
I can understand some alternative software, due to some players having adware etc. but quicktime doesnt need an alternative, so to behonest just get quicktime for best compatabiltiy. +unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted March 31, 2005 Subscriber¹ Share Posted March 31, 2005 The reason it doesn't work for me is that the quicktime alt installer will only install the plugin in the opera\plugins folder. If you install the beta the path will be opera 8\plugins or opera 8 beta\plugins. Just install opera into a directory called opera and it should work.
