Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone was interested in making a Cisco Systems wallpaper. I work with their products all the time, and thought it would be nice for clients to see the wallpaper if I had wondered away from my machine. I can't find any on the web, and my Photoshop skills are about as basic as they come.

I think something with their slogan "This is the power of the network" and their logo, maybe some simple green lines and stuff would look cool.

Any takers?

Wow, you all have made some nice wallpapers.

Thank you for your efforts.

d3monn, I think your really on to something with you second wall, its simple and minimalisic. I also wonder how that would look with the Background in the green that Cisco uses, with "This is the power of the network" under the logo in red?

What do you think?

P.S. Bloodwork -- Sorry for using the wrong forum, I was in a hurry and I don't usually have the time to locate the absolutly best forum to post in.

Here's an update on the wallpaper, I was a bit bored and added a bit of an effect to the background and I'm working a bit more on making that a bit more easier on the eyes. Here's a shot of the both of them.

and this is a screenshot of the plain one. I think the green at the bottom could have a little more blue/teal into it...

the textured one is very nice. but the red fond is not easy on the eyes as it is.

The actual preview on the topic page is quite distorted, if you didn't do so, it's a lot better to look at. If you did, well, it could be just red is hard on the eyes. Either way, here's a version of the textured one with white text. Like you mentioned, it is a bit easier on the eyes without the red text.

I can make it a small wallpaper "pack" with textured/untextured/green/blue/white text/red text to distribute, so it adds a bit of variety. The only problem is filesize.

I agree, white is better. Just waiting on WinMaster before I post the final image here. I don't want to take up too much space on the server with 3 1600x1200 sized images. I'd post this on DeviantArt, but it's against their rules to use a company in the work, and since I don't feel like going through hours of e-mail work from Cisco asking permission and giving proof to DeviantArt and all that mumbo-jumbo.

Anywho, @WinMaster: PM me and I can post/link/send you a larger sized version of either the plain background, or the textured, or both.

Thanks WinMaster,

It's all good, are there any other request/suggestions for the wallpaper?

RE: the hosting, I might be able to get some hosting done. It's not hard to find a basic free hosting service. I might just open a free account at Brinkster to host the files.

    • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
    • The only difference here is that you think you came up with these reasons. You didn't. These age old fearmongering lies (that were NEVER true) were funded by and the anger stoked by Putin through proxies like Farage (and later in the USA, Trump) and filtered down through the skinheads, Neonazis, etc. until it reached the uninformed, ignorant, and gullible -- never realizing they were being played for fools against their own best interests. Even now, despite all of the EVIDENCE proving that Brexit was a terrible mistake for ALL citizens of the UK and that its supporters were tricked by Putin's proxies into sabotaging their own nation, you're still here defending these well-known lies as if they were ever true. Not only are they not true. They NEVER were. So, when are you going to realize that you were lied to and actually get angry at the liars and charlatans who lied to you, instead of blaming the innocent people they lied to you about?
