StevenNT
I think you have been misinformed becasue you cant logon on locally on a Domain Controler. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/303557-local-admin-account/#findComment-585707758 Share on other sites
PF Prophet
cant remmber how to setup the local account but it is possable and a good idea to keep a local account for emergncy mantanance (if ad gets messed up) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/303557-local-admin-account/#findComment-585708351 Share on other sites
cultavix
The accounts that you setup on the domain controller really are local to the domain controller. If everything was to go down, you could still log into the domain controller locally with for example the Admin account... good luck Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/303557-local-admin-account/#findComment-585708824 Share on other sites
Mattimeo
There are no local accounts because this is a Domain Controller. Your Administrator account will work as a local account on the DC. MazX_Napalm
You don't need to create a special account. There is this little thing known as an ERD! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/303557-local-admin-account/#findComment-585710204 Share on other sites

beacon
Firstly if your AD Server went down you couldnt log on as it would be down wouldnt it? Secondly when you promote a server to domain controller you are prompted to input a Directory Service Restore Mode Administrator password. This is used incase you need to boot into Directory Service Restore Mode or the Recovery COnsole on a Domain controller. MazX_Napalm
To install Command Console as a boot option (ie you don't need to hunt down the cd) winnt32.exe /cmdcons Works for W2K, W2K Server, WinXP, W2K3.
