The screenshot in the first post is what i am porting. This is not a screenshots of the port but a screenshot of the real theme on Linux.

The Windows port will be like that (or as close as possible).

Good, always best not to overdo something, especially ports. Looking forward to see more soon :)

Asking for the rounded buttons is not overdoing it. There are at least two "official" versions of this theme, some of us liked the rounded button version.

Yeah, whichever version you choose, I know I'd use it.

I'd like to know what you had in mind for the start button and start menu.

Pretty similar as I did in SmoothGnome, at least the taskbar and startbutton.

I don't know what I am gonna do with the startmenu yet. It's always the last thing I make.

The shellstyle will be exactly the same as it was in SmoothGnome. This is why I made a universal shellstyle last time. I hate to make those and now I have one that fits in about any theme so I will re-use that.

The captionbar is another story. I'm not too fond of either official designs so I don't know which I'm gonna pick yet. I am experimenting with a cross-breed of the original caption and the Ximian Industrial caption (the one with the stripes)..... we'll see what is going to be the result of that.

I'm not done with it yet.

Anyways I only work on it when I feel like it. So it may take a while before I finish it. This has always been the best method for me.... I take my time.

When I am gonna rush things I don't think the result will be good.

I've used a VS that's another Linux port but I forgot the name ( Gorilla or something I think ). It has ROUNDED lower windows corners. Pity I forgot the backup the VSs before my last format of the HDD...........

I just wanna point out that if the VS has squared lower windows corners, it just look like "Windows".

So besides smooth caption buttons, don't forget smooth windows corners! :p

If I've got the correct screenshot that's supposed to be similar, could I make the suggestion to ditch all gnome references (icons, wording, etc)? Sure, this is a port of a gtk theme but you're using it on Windows...kinda silly in my opinion to have gnome stuff everywhere. Afterall, that's why I have Linux on another partition. Keep it simple, just without gnome stuff. :)

You can suggest that, but it is not gonna make a difference.

The gnome stuff will be in the theme. I see no reason to replace the gnome foot with a windows flag.

But you do see a reason to put a gnome foot on a windows visual style? That'd be a blasphemy to gnome developers. :p

It's cool dude...make it how you want. (Y)

Cool XP-GNOME-theme-conversion :)

Nice shmoove

But smitjel, "But you do see a reason to put a gnome foot on a windows visual style? That'd be a blasphemy to gnome developers. :p", isn't it blasphemy to put the Apple logo all over XP, thats something that I see sooooo much.

585790646[/snapback]

Completely agree...it's no wonder "apple" people laugh at "windoze" people. How stupid does that look with apple logos all over your windows visual style? Get a Mac you posers! :p

I'm just saying this is supposed to be a port of a gtk theme...what's the gnome icons have to do with it? It's a windows visual style, not a tribute to gnome...JMHO :)

I agree Schmoove. For some things I use Windows, for most things I use Gnome. Why not have my Windows environment as close to a real operating system as possible ;) Nicely done, and I cannot wait for the release!

    • It is such a shame. I used to really respect Neowin's articles.
    • So.... slower fixes and slower security updates are preferred? I mean, there is no goldilocks zone here until it can literally update without ever needing a restart, and even then I'm sure someone would complain.
