Final Note: I have been using this in conjunction with the Philips-DVP 642 Player and it has worked flawlessly. It burns virtually onto every DVD type and together with Alcohol 120% or Nero the results are magnificent i truley recomend this burner simply because of the price for such a good piece of equipment.

Only side-effect to this hardware is its max regular burn is 32x and max cd-read is 40x

Other than that its simply outstanding. Im pretty sure thats all the info you need. If you need more pm or ask here.

I love you. :)

Thanks for the quick reply! I guess the only question I have is this; do DVDs reach and maintain the advertised 16x speed for a normal write? Other than that, I was already pretty much sold on this drive, just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it.

DVR-108 has slower dual layer and cd burning speeds

585727159[/snapback]

and the 108 has a slower CD audio read speed at 9.3x, man was that a big wow when i went to rip a CD of mine to WMA...so slow compared to my old TDK CDRW's fast rip speed. But my 108 is good and my rebate check came in today..took so long i forgot all about it :pinch:

Im using 3rd party Firmeware which removes that limited speed :p

@Romest yes for me it seems to reach advertised speed may be off by .1 or .2 either way its a very good dvd burner. Its my first dvd burner and iv'e loved it..

Definatly worth the money, i give it a 10/10..

Ripping with DVDDecrypter is fast as well..

I got this drive not that long ago. I went to burn a DVD and gay thing dont work. I tryed to firmware update and the firmware wont update.

The place I got it from only has a 7 day return day policy, I didnt try to burn anything b4 then. I have Nero Ultra edition which supports DVD burning.

I got mine OEM so no instructions, no software bundle. I asked the guy at the shop and he said they only make DVR-109 OEM drives. If someone got theres in a box with a cd and stuff can you tell me please!!! Thx

I asked for a black one and he said Pioneer dont make Black DVR-109 drives.

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.
